KADOKAWA will host its OnSITE Portfolio Review for manga creators at Comic Paradise 2026 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

KADOKAWA is bringing its OnSITE Portfolio Review program to Indonesia for the first time, giving aspiring manga creators a chance to have their work reviewed directly by professional editors. The program will take place during Comic Paradise 2026 in Yogyakarta on October 17 and 18, with KADOKAWA participating as an official collaborator at the event. Creators will be able to submit their manga works for in-person feedback and ask questions about the Japanese manga industry, publishing and the process of developing their work.

The Indonesia event follows the first OnSITE Portfolio Review held at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles. According to KADOKAWA, the decision to bring the program to Indonesia was influenced by the strong participation of Indonesian creators in its international manga initiatives, including the KADOKAWA WORLD MANGA CONTEST and online portfolio reviews.

KADOKAWA OnSITE Portfolio Review Will Help Creators Pursue Manga Careers

The OnSITE Portfolio Review is part of KADOKAWA WORLD MANGA ATELIER (KWMA), a creative support initiative designed to help manga creators outside Japan. Through the program, KADOKAWA manga editors travel internationally to examine creators’ submitted works, provide direct feedback and answer questions about the Japanese manga market.

At Comic Paradise, the portfolio review will be held at KADOKAWA’s Booth X-03 at the Jogja Expo Center. The event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. WIB on both October 17 and 18, with last admission at 5:30 p.m. Works can be submitted in English or Japanese, while the event will support English, Japanese and Indonesian for communication.

KADOKAWA’s World Manga Editorial Team will provide aspiring creators with direct feedback on their manga works.

Pre-registration for the OnSITE Portfolio Review is open from September 14 through October 10, 2026, and participation in the review itself is free. However, visitors must purchase a Comic Paradise admission ticket costing IDR 50,000 to enter the venue.

KADOKAWA will also hold a dedicated talk session on October 18 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Comic Paradise Main Stage. Noboru Segawa, chief editor of KADOKAWA’s World Manga Editorial Team, will discuss the KADOKAWA WORLD MANGA CONTEST and share advice about manga creation from an editor’s perspective before taking questions from attendees.

The Indonesia program expands KADOKAWA’s broader efforts to discover and support manga talent internationally. KWMA currently includes Online Portfolio Review MOCHIKOMI, OnSITE Portfolio Review and the KADOKAWA WORLD MANGA CONTEST, creating multiple opportunities for creators outside Japan to present their work and learn about the professional manga industry.

For Indonesian artists hoping to publish manga professionally, the Comic Paradise appearance offers a rare opportunity to receive feedback directly from KADOKAWA’s editorial team without traveling to Japan. It also gives creators a clearer understanding of what editors look for when evaluating manga and how international artists can approach the Japanese market.
