Jon Hamm is a well-known American actor who has worked in both TV and movies, and he has a net worth of $45 million. Many people know him best for playing Don Draper in the popular AMC series Mad Men. Besides Mad Men, Hamm has shown his acting skills in many other TV shows and movies, and he is good at voice acting too.

Hamm first became interested in acting when he was in college. He moved to Los Angeles in the mid-1990s, but it was hard for him to find acting jobs at first.

After three years without getting any roles, his agent let him go. Hamm told himself that if he didn’t succeed by the time he turned 30, he would go back to his home state and get a regular job. Luckily, things started to improve for him in 2000 when he began getting roles more often.

He first appeared as a guest on Providence, but his role became more regular and expanded to nineteen episodes because people liked his performance. He also acted in movies like Space Cowboys and Kissing Jessica Stein.

Over the next few years, Hamm worked on both TV shows and movies, including We Were Soldiers, Gilmore Girls, The Division, CSI: Miami, Point Pleasant, Charmed, Ira and Abby, The Unit, What About Brian, Numb3rs, and The Sarah Silverman Program. Still, it was his role as Don Draper in the 2007 series Mad Men that made him a star around the world.

After that, he won many awards for his work on the show and kept taking on big roles in both movies and television, such as 30 Rock, The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Margaret Todd, The Town, Sucker Punch, Bridesmaids, and Landman.

Early Life

Jonathan Daniel Hamm was born on March 10, 1971, in St. Louis, Missouri. His parents separated when he was just two years old, and he lived with his mother until she passed away when he was ten.

After she died, he moved to Normandy, Missouri, where he lived with his father and grandmother.

Hamm started liking acting when he was in first grade, but during high school, he saw it as something fun to do, not as a future job. While in high school, he was active in sports like football, baseball, and swimming. Not long after finishing high school, his father passed away.

He first went to the University of Texas, but he got into legal trouble because of a hazing incident that happened in a fraternity. Because of this, he transferred to the University of Missouri. While he was there, he joined a theater group and acted in plays like A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Assassins.

Mad Men

Jon Hamm was already working as an actor before 2007, but his role as Don Draper in Mad Men was the moment that truly made him well known. He didn’t expect to get the role, especially since 80 other people, many of them more famous, had auditioned too.

After several tryouts, NBC picked Jon Hamm, which led to his quick rise to fame around the world.

In Mad Men, Hamm plays an advertising executive in the 1960s, and he based parts of the character on his father’s life. Like Don Draper, Hamm’s father was a strong personality who had a mysterious past. The show became very popular soon after it started, with 1.7 million people watching the first episode.

Hamm got a lot of praise from critics for his acting and won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in 2008. When Mad Men ended in 2015, he finally won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series after being nominated 12 times during the run of the show.

Other Acting Work

While Mad Men was still being made, Jon Hamm worked on several movies. In 2008, he appeared in The Day the Earth Stood Still. Even though the reviews were mixed, the movie made $230 million at the box office around the world. In 2009, Hamm got his first leading role in the movie Stolen.

That same year, he voiced a character in Shrek Forever After and acted in The Town. His list of movies grew in 2011 with roles in Sucker Punch, Bridesmaids, and Friends with Kids. In 2014, he played a sports agent in Million Dollar Arm.

In 2015, Hamm returned to voice acting in Minions, where he voiced the character Herb Overkill. The movie was a huge hit, making more than $1 billion. In 2016, he starred in Keeping Up With the Joneses, and in 2017, he played a major part in Baby Driver.

During his career, Hamm has also been on TV shows like Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock, A Young Doctor’s Notebook, Black Mirror, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. In 2017, he joined the cast of Good Omens, where he played the Archangel Gabriel.

Personal Life

Jon Hamm began a relationship with actress and screenwriter Jennifer Westfeldt in 1997, and they were together for 18 years before separating in 2015.

In the show Mad Men, Don Draper, the character played by Hamm, is often seen smoking. For those scenes, Hamm used herbal cigarettes because he had quit smoking when he was 24 years old.

In 2015, Hamm went to rehab for alcoholism.

Real Estate

In 2013, Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt bought a 1,000-square-foot penthouse in Manhattan’s Upper West Side for $2.45 million. After their breakup, the apartment was renovated and later rented out for almost $15,000 per month in 2017. That same year, Hamm bought a large four-bedroom house in Los Feliz, Los Angeles, for $3.375 million.

Mad Men Salary

Jon Hamm earned a high salary for his work on Mad Men. His pay increased over time, reaching a high of $275,000 per episode at one point, which added up to about $4 million for one season.

Mercedes Endorsement Earnings

Since 2010, he has done voice-over work for Mercedes Benz advertisements.

What is Jon Hamm’s income from Mercedes commercials? Usually, a well-known actor like Hamm doesn’t get paid per commercial for a brand like Mercedes. Instead, he likely signed a long-term deal that includes a set number of commercials each year.

Looking at similar deals made by other actors, Hamm’s agreement with Mercedes is probably a 5-year contract worth between $15 million and $25 million, which means he may be earning around $3 million to $5 million each year. But it’s likely that he was paid the full amount at the beginning of the contract.

Hamm has done endorsement work for H&R Block and American Airlines as well.

With a net worth of $45 million, his career is still going strong because of his well-known performances in Mad Men, Bridesmaids, and Baby Driver, along with high-paying endorsement deals.

Hamm’s dedication to acting and his choice to work on a variety of projects have earned him respect in the entertainment industry.

As he keeps working on new and interesting roles in both TV and movies, Jon Hamm’s future looks promising, and he continues to be one of Hollywood’s most admired and successful actors.
