Jo Bo Ah may be making her return to acting with a new drama after reportedly receiving an offer to take over a role originally intended for Lee Chung Ah.
On October 2, Jo Bo Ah’s agency confirmed that the actress is currently considering an offer for the upcoming drama “The Obedient Killer” (literal title).
The potential casting comes after Lee Chung Ah stepped down from the project following a car accident.
The actress was originally set to play Lee Hwa Ra, a character also known by the code name “Miss Lee.”
However, her accident aggravated a pre-existing back condition, reportedly making it difficult for her to continue filming the drama’s numerous action sequences.
Jo Bo Ah’s agency BILLIONS clarified that nothing has been finalized yet. A representative stated,
“Jo Bo Ah recently received a casting offer for ‘The Obedient Killer.’ She is currently reviewing the offer.”
If she accepts the role, the project would mark an important return to acting for Jo Bo Ah following the birth of her first child earlier this year.
The actress gave birth to a baby boy on February 20, with her agency confirming at the time that both mother and child were healthy.
Jo Bo Ah Offered Lee Chung Ah’s Role in 1970s-Set Drama
“The Obedient Killer” is set during the 1970s and 1980s and follows a woman whose original ambition in life was to become a devoted wife and mother.
However, after her marriage ends, she finds herself needing to step outside the life she had planned and takes an unexpected job in order to survive.
Jo Bo Ah has reportedly been offered the role of Lee Hwa Ra, who operates under the code name “Miss Lee.”
The character was initially set to be portrayed by Lee Chung Ah before the actress withdrew from the production following her accident.
The drama has attracted attention because of the creative team behind it.

Writer Joo Hwa Mi, known for The Atypical Family, is behind the script, while Lee Jeong Heum, who directed Inspector Koo and Our Movie, is set to helm the project.
Creator Kang Eun Kyung, whose credits include Dr. Romantic and Gyeongseong Creature, is also involved.
The story’s combination of period elements, action and a female-centered transformation is expected to give the drama a distinctive tone.
However, details about its broadcast schedule and the complete cast have yet to be announced.
Lee Chung Ah Withdraws as Jo Bo Ah Considers Her Next Project
Lee Chung Ah’s departure from the drama was first reported in September after her agency confirmed that she had been involved in a car accident.
Her agency, Management SOOP, stated at the time,
“It’s true that Lee Chung Ah was in a car accident,” adding that she was discussing whether to step down from the drama.
Reports later explained that the actress had difficulty continuing with the project because the production involved action scenes and her condition made those sequences challenging.
For Jo Bo Ah, accepting the offer would represent her return to her main acting career roughly eight months after welcoming her son.
She married a non-celebrity in October 2024 and announced her pregnancy the following year.
The actress previously starred in projects including Military Prosecutor Doberman and Netflix’s Dear Hongrang.
She also has Disney+’s Knock Off in her filmography, although that series’ release plans were affected by changes surrounding its production.
For now, Jo Bo Ah’s appearance in “The Obedient Killer” remains under discussion, with her agency confirming only that she has received the offer and is reviewing it.
Further details about her potential casting are expected once a final decision is made.
