The plot of the anime centers on the romantic rivalry between Miyuki Shirogane, president of Shuchiin Academy, and Kaguya Shinomiya, vice president. They’re attracted to one another, sure, but they don’t feel they need to admit it. They will instead make the other person say it.
It’s recommended that you watch Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War. Slapstick comedy with a dash of high school drama make for a hilarious watch. It has dull moments, but generally, it’s more entertaining than it is boring.
Funny, sassy, and completely laughable best describe the characters in Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War. The ludicrous lengths to which Miyuki and Kaguya go in order to coerce one another into confessing provide for great comic relief.
This is the crux of the film, its major point. The character growth we receive for Miyuki and Kaguya is incredible. Especially Kaguya; she is the intended audience for this arc, and their point of view is presented throughout. Kaguya-sama movie is like an improved version of the growth Ishigami experienced in season two.
It’s well stated how she and Miyuki eventually reconcile after some initial tension. Also, it’s interesting how Miko’s character is developed indirectly along with everyone else’s. The scripting of the film’s characters was superb.
Each of them uses an endless supply of clever ploys and witty retorts to advance in this conflict. One more nameless individual provides highly caustic and nasty commentary on the events, increasing the tension of their “battles.”
There is cringeworthy and hilarious animation and art in even the theme tunes. Cheesy love signals wrap around Miyuki and Kaguya. The 20-minute episodes go rather quickly compared to other anime I’ve seen. This is another piece of evidence of Kaguya-Sama’s artistic excellence.
Kaguya-Sama: Love is War plot
Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane, both brilliant students at the prestigious Shuchiin Academy, have fallen in love with one another. However, neither of them is willing to confess to the other since they believe the first one to do so is the “loser.” What started as typical adolescent defiance has escalated into a full-blown “war,” complete with extreme measures used by each side to get the other to admit guilt first.
But although the plot might seem like a traditional rom-com, what sets Kaguya-sama unique are its character depth, growth, and biting humor. Kaguya-sama consistently subverts the assumptions of the rom-com genre by shifting the focus away from the love development of the main characters.
Kaguya-sama does this by amassing a large number of likeable and well-developed characters who aren’t only there for comic relief but are instead fully realized individuals with their own storylines.
The first two seasons were primarily self-contained gags; however, there were hints of future growth throughout the program that made it seem like something might happen. Season 3 marks the climax of the show’s buildup to the arc-based narrative it will feature going forward. Season 3 of Kaguya-sama will be the series’ dramatic conclusion to its critically lauded first two seasons.
Will There Be a Next Season?
Kaguya Sama Anime has not ended. A “new animation project would be produced” on June 24, 2022, the anime’s official Twitter said, in response to the “intense wishes” of the show’s devoted fans after the third season of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War concluded with a beautiful moment between Shirogane and Shinomiya.
This phrase was likely made in reference to the film Kaguya-sama, which was based on “First Kiss, Never End,” and premiered in December of 2022. For Season 4, Kaguya-sama has returned! Love is War’s existence has only been insinuated.
The manga ended with more than 280 chapters, but only 151 were adapted in the first three seasons of the anime plus the film First Kiss, leaving plenty of material for a new season of the anime.
The producers of Kaguya-sama have remained silent on a potential fourth season. There were several unresolved plot threads at the conclusion of Season 3, yet the program has not been cancelled. Subtly alluded to in the season two conclusion of the show Let’s pretend the anime’s fourth season was made after the release of the movie.
The premiere of the next season is expected to take place somewhere in the middle of 2024. Don’t take the stated date as gospel; it’s only an approximate guess.
Kaguya and Miyuki’s frank and heartfelt confessions to one another about their socioeconomic disparities begin in chapter 153 and continue until chapter 162. The strange histories of the fourth Ai Hayasaka and the Shinomiyas will also be investigated this season.
