Heartland is a family TV show that is based on the “Heartland book series” written by Lauren Brooke. It follows the story of the Fleming & Bartlett families, who try to live a happy, fulfilled life on their family ranch. This show follows their lives taking us through their ups and downs, through their happy and sad moments, through their emotional journies, and even through their tragic moments in life.
It’s a beautiful slice-of-life drama that is made for a wholesome family viewing experience. This show is filled with lots of lovely and memorable characters. Watching these characters would definitely fill your heart with joy. But the most beautiful part about the characters in Heartland is, unlike any other show, these characters are just like us, trying to deal with their everyday problems, doing their best to live a family life, etc.
It’s a really beautiful show with lovely characters with whom you can easily connect. And one such character from this show is Ty Borden, who is easily one of the best characters from Heartland. He is a sweet boy, an ideal man with whom every girl would want to fall in love. He has a tragic past but is really a kind-hearted guy with a caring nature.

But unfortunately, the show’s most loved boy Ty Borden finally met with his tragic fate when he died in Heartland season 14, episode 1.
In Which Episode Does Ty Borden Die In Heartland?
After a 14-season-long journey, Ty Borden’s character finally came to an end in season 14, episode 1 of Heartland. During the last episode of season 13, “The Passing Of Torch,” we see Ty and Amy getting chased by a wolf. While Ty, the man he is, jumps to save Amy, they are unaware that a poacher is aiming to shoot the wolf & unfortunately, that bullet hits Amy.
Amy gets injured, and Ty rushes Amy to the hospital in order to save her life. But it is then revealed that in the midst of saving Amy’s life, Ty did not realize that he, too, got wounded by the bullet that was fired at them. Ty gets admitted along with Amy.
They went through the operation, and fortunately, the operation was a success & both Ty and Amy are safe. But things take a really tragic turn in season 14, episode 1 when Ty suddenly collapses. And unfortunately, he died because of a blood clot that occurred because of a wound that he got by getting shot by a bullet.
Why Did Ty Borden From Heartland Die?
One of the most crucial things which the fans of the show Heartland must know is that it was actor Graham Wardle (Ty Borden) who decided to quit the show. It has been a few years since Graham has been thinking about leaving the show & has been waiting for the right time.
In an interview, Graham stated that it’s not a random decision, but a carefully thought out idea, for which he has been thinking for years – “How to give honor and justice to his character Ty Borden & give him a respectful end which he deserves.”
The reason that Graham gave for leaving the show was that he wanted to move on in life. And move in a new direction. For that, he had to end his character “Ty Borden” and has to quit the Heartland show. He further added, “I have been trying a few other things, and they have worked quite well, and I believe it’s now the time to leave Heartland and give Ty the respectable end he needs.”
Actor Graham Wardle believes that Ty had gone through a really rough time during the early phase of his life. He was abused a lot by his stepfather, and he even went to juvenile for hitting back at his father.
