Hunter x Hunter fans are closely watching Yoshihiro Togashi’s latest manga updates after the creator shared new artwork featuring Killua Zoldyck while working on Chapter 429. The update has drawn particular attention because Killua has had only limited involvement in the recent manga storyline, which has primarily focused on Kurapika and the dangerous Succession Contest aboard the Black Whale.
The official VIZ source link currently lists Chapter 418 as the latest published chapter and confirms that new installments have continued after the manga returned from its lengthy hiatus. Togashi’s work on Chapter 429 suggests that he remains well ahead of the currently published material.
Togashi’s New Killua Art Fuels Return Speculation

Togashi shared a new illustration of Killua while providing a progress update for Chapter 429. Togashi also jokingly addressed an issue with the chapter, writing,
“The number of lines and the number of people, the one that’s wrong is the number of people. I’ll have some cold Chinese noodles first and calm down.”
The post offered no confirmation that Killua will immediately return to the main story, but the character’s prominent appearance in the new artwork has naturally created excitement among readers.
Killua was briefly shown in Chapter 414, where he appeared alongside his younger sister Alluka after spending years away from the manga’s main conflict. However, the brief appearance offered little information about what the former Zoldyck assassin might do next.
Killua remains one of the series’ most important characters because of his relationship with Gon and his personal ties to Alluka, whose powers could become increasingly significant as the wider Hunter x Hunter story moves closer to the Dark Continent. Whether the new artwork signals an imminent return or simply reflects Togashi’s current work remains unclear, but the latest update has renewed fan interest in seeing Killua take a more active role again.
