Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Faye (Laufey) in God of War: Laufey, accidentally destroyed a famous prop from The Last of Us Part II during her first performance-capture session. The surprising story was revealed during the game’s San Diego Comic-Con panel and later highlighted by Sony Santa Monica.
Woll explained that developers handed her a prop on her first day without telling her about its history.
“On the first day of recording scenes with Faye, the developers handed me a prop. And I didn’t know it was a very famous prop they used for The Last of Us,”
she recalled during the panel. She initially joked that she thought it was “sports equipment” before Ariel Lawrence confirmed that it was the infamous golf club associated with The Last of Us Part II.

The prop was being used as an axe during the performance session. Woll struck it with enough force to break it, creating an unexpected behind-the-scenes moment that Sony Santa Monica later showcased on its official X account.
God of War: Laufey is scheduled to launch on PS5 on February 16, 2027, with Faye taking the lead in a story set after her death.
