Voice actress Asami Yaguchi has died at the age of 47, her talent agency Kenyū Office announced on September 28. According to the agency, Yaguchi died suddenly on September 26. A private funeral is being held with only close family members attending, in accordance with her family’s wishes.
Oricon News stated that Yaguchi died from heart failure, although Kenyū Office’s official announcement did not specify a cause of death. The agency remembered Yaguchi as a cheerful person who was highly considerate toward those around her and had supported the company since its early years.
Her Most Recognized Anime and Game Roles
Yaguchi began her professional voice acting career in 2002 and became particularly known for her work across anime and games. One of her best-known roles was Kuchipatchi in the Tamagotchi anime franchise, beginning with Let’s Go! Tamagotchi in 2007 before returning for later television series.
She also contributed to several major anime productions, including Gintama, where she provided the voice of young Gintoki Sakata. Her other notable roles included Katina Tarask in Super Robot Wars OG, Tarlant in Fantastic Children, and Eleonore Von Wittenburg in Dies irae.
Her video game credits included Arknights, Fire Emblem Heroes, Super Robot Wars Original Generations, and Dies irae ~Interview with Kaziklu Bey~. Through these performances, Yaguchi built a career spanning anime, games, and some of Japan’s most recognizable entertainment franchises.
Kenyū Office described Yaguchi as someone who had been an important presence within the agency for many years. Her death marks the loss of a performer whose work reached audiences through both long-running anime properties and video game franchises.
