The upcoming Firefly Wedding anime has released a new character trailer focused on Shinpei Goto, giving viewers a closer look at the professional assassin whose encounter with Satoko Kirigaya drives the story. Koki Uchiyama voices Shinpei, who initially approaches Satoko as his target but becomes unexpectedly entangled with her after she proposes marriage to save her life.
The new trailer arrives just ahead of the anime’s premiere on October 9, 2026. Firefly Wedding will air in Japan through Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block, while Crunchyroll will stream the series internationally, including the Indian subcontinent.
SHINPEI GOTO TAKES CENTER STAGE
The new Firefly Wedding trailer highlights Shinpei’s unsettling personality and his relationship with Satoko. One of the featured scenes shows the blood-covered assassin being approached by Satoko, who attempts to wipe the blood from his face with her handkerchief.
Shinpei’s role is central to the anime’s unusual romance. Satoko is a noblewoman suffering from a serious illness and believes she has little time left. When Shinpei comes to kill her, she makes an impulsive marriage proposal as a way to survive.
The premise creates an unusual dynamic because Shinpei does not treat the proposal as a temporary arrangement. As the official synopsis explains, when Shinpei takes love seriously, his interpretation of “until death do we part” becomes particularly dangerous.

Firefly Wedding is based on Oreco Tachibana’s manga, which was serialized from January 2023 through August 2026 and concluded with 12 collected volumes. VIZ Media publishes the manga in English.
Takahiro Kamei directs the anime at david production, with Yuko Kakihara handling series composition and scripts, Yukiko Aikei designing the characters and NOGRID composing the music. Lynn voices Satoko, while Kent Itō and Kenjirō Tsuda play Kōtarō Ogawa and Mitsueda respectively.
