Elizabeth Debicki has won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. The award celebrates her role in Netflix’s popular show, The Crown. Over its six seasons, the show has thrilled audiences with its portrayal of the Royal Family.
Debicki received high praise for her portrayal of Diana, Princess of Wales, in the fifth and sixth seasons. She impressed many by capturing the late Princess’s mannerisms with great respect and care, earning her this prestigious award. Her win tonight is a significant achievement after being nominated for the same award at the 2023 Emmys.
The Crown is also competing for several other major awards tonight. Debicki was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress alongside her co-star, Lesley Manville. Manville played Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, and this was her first Emmy nomination.
The show is also in the running for Outstanding Drama Series. Debicki and Manville’s co-stars, Dominic West and Imelda Staunton, are nominated for Outstanding Actor and Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series, respectively.
Other Nominees for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Besides Debicki and Manville, four actresses from Apple TV+’s The Morning Show and Christine Baranski from HBO’s The Gilded Age were also nominated.
The Gilded Age is set in 1880s New York City and follows women striving to climb high society’s ranks. Baranski, who plays Agnes van Rhijn, is a 16-time Emmy nominee and won her first Emmy for her role in Cybill.
The remaining nominees are from The Morning Show. This Apple TV+ series provides a dramatic look behind the scenes of a news program. It covers current topics like the #MeToo movement, COVID-19, and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The nominees include Nicole Beharie as co-host Christina Hunter, Greta Lee as UBA’s news division president Stella Bak, Karen Pittman as producer Mia Jordan, and Holland Taylor as UBA Board Member Cybil Richards.
