The Dr. STONE franchise is returning with a new anime project titled Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING. The official anime website and social media accounts announced on October 10, 2026, that the adaptation is in production, confirming that the project will bring the manga’s epilogue chapter to the screen.
The announcement follows the conclusion of Dr. STONE SCIENCE FUTURE, the anime’s final season, which aired between April and June 2026. While the main story has reached its conclusion, the new project gives fans another opportunity to revisit the world created by writer Riichiro Inagaki and illustrator Boichi.
DR. STONE TERRAFORMING WILL ADAPT THE MANGA’S EPILOGUE
According to the official Dr. STONE anime website, Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING is currently in production. The announcement confirms the source material but does not yet reveal the project’s release date, episode count, format, or complete production staff.
The original manga follows Senku Ishigami, a science-minded teenager who awakens thousands of years after a mysterious phenomenon turns humanity to stone. He sets out to restore civilization through scientific discoveries, working alongside allies to revive humanity and rebuild the world.
The epilogue provides additional material beyond the central storyline, making its adaptation a continuation of the franchise’s exploration of science and humanity’s future. However, specific details about how the chapter will be adapted have not yet been disclosed.
ANNOUNCEMENT ILLUSTRATION REVEALED, RELEASE DATE STILL UNKNOWN
Alongside the announcement, the official Dr. STONE account shared a commemorative illustration by Yuko Iwasa, the anime series’ character designer. The artwork celebrates the confirmation of TERRAFORMING, although the production announcement did not include a release window.
The original anime’s final season was directed by Shuhei Matsushita at TMS Entertainment, with Kurasumi Sunayama handling series composition, Yuko Iwasa designing the characters, and Yukihiro Kanesaka composing the music. Whether the same team will return for Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING has not been confirmed.
Fans can currently watch the existing Dr. STONE anime on Crunchyroll. More information about the new project is expected to clarify its format, staff, and premiere date.
