The next chapter of the Gundam SEED saga is heading to New York Comic Con 2026. Bandai Namco Filmworks has announced a major MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED FREEDOM ZERO presentation at the event, giving attendees an opportunity to learn more about the highly anticipated prequel to MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED FREEDOM.
The special panel, titled GUNDAM Showcase 2026 @ NYC – Feat. SEED FREEDOM ZERO Panel, will take place on Thursday, October 8, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. EDT at NYCC’s Main Stage. Special guests will share new information about the project alongside the latest Gundam news, upcoming initiatives, and fan experiences.
Fans unable to attend the convention will also be able to follow the announcements through a special GUNDAM CHANNEL INTL program. The worldwide stream is scheduled to begin at 3:45 p.m. EDT on Thursday, October 8, delivering the key updates from the NYCC presentation to international audiences.
What to Expect From the SEED FREEDOM ZERO Panel
The SEED FREEDOM ZERO panel will serve as one of the first major opportunities for fans to learn more about the upcoming project. Bandai Namco Filmworks has also confirmed giveaways for attendees, although the contents and designs of distributed items remain subject to change.
The announced goodies include a T-shirt, a “Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO” poster, a promotional Gundam Card Game card featuring the same mobile suit, a Gunpla shopping bag, and a Gundam introduction book. Additional items are also expected to be announced closer to the event.
Gundam will have a strong presence across New York Comic Con 2026, with the Bandai Namco Toys & Collectibles America Booth (#2619) serving as the main convention hub for the franchise. The TAMASHII NATIONS Booth (#2417) will also feature Gundam products, exhibits, and other fan experiences.
Bandai Namco Filmworks will simultaneously premiere a special program on the official GUNDAM CHANNEL INTL at 3:45 p.m. EDT. The program will share the latest MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED FREEDOM ZERO news with audiences worldwide.
However, the stream will not be a live broadcast or recording of the NYCC panel itself. Instead, it will deliver the key updates separately for fans who cannot attend the event in New York.
MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED FREEDOM ZERO Continues the Cosmic Era Story
MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED FREEDOM ZERO is the newest addition to the Gundam SEED franchise and serves as a prequel to the 2024 theatrical film MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED FREEDOM. The film opened in Japan on January 26, 2024, and became the highest-grossing Gundam theatrical release in Japanese history.
The official Gundam SEED FREEDOM website previously confirmed that SEED FREEDOM ZERO is based on a script developed during the production of the 2024 film by original creators Chiaki Morosawa and Shigeru Morita alongside director Mitsuo Fukuda.
The story remains set within the Cosmic Era, where genetically enhanced Coordinators and unaltered Naturals have been locked in a long-running conflict. The wider SEED story follows characters including Kira Yamato, Athrun Zala, and Shinn Asuka as the political and military struggles of the era continue to shape their world.
