Science SARU’s highly anticipated Ghost in the Shell anime has reached the final stretch of its first season, and fans now know exactly when the new adaptation will conclude. The 2026 series is scheduled for 10 episodes, with Episode 10, titled “BRAIN DRAIN iii + GHOST COAST + EPILOGUE,” released on September 8, 2026, on Prime Video.

The finale marks the end of Science SARU’s new interpretation of Masamune Shirow’s influential cyberpunk manga. Prime Video lists the series as a 10-episode season, while the official Ghost in the Shell website confirmed the September 8 broadcast and streaming date for the final installment.

Science SARU’s Ghost in the Shell Is Almost Over

The new Ghost in the Shell launched in July as one of the major anime releases of 2026. Unlike the celebrated 1995 movie directed by Mamoru Oshii, the television series takes a different route with its adaptation of Shirow’s original material.

The narrative takes place in a technologically advanced 2029 and follows Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body cyborg who becomes involved in the creation of an elite special forces unit known as Section 9, or the Shell Squad. Their investigations eventually lead them toward an elusive hacker known as the Puppet Master.

The series is directed by Mokochan, who previously worked on Dandadan and other Science SARU productions. EnJoe Toh handles the scripts, while Shuhei Handa serves as character designer and chief animation director.

The Finale Arrives on September 8

The final episode will bring the first season’s storyline to its conclusion. According to Prime Video, Episode 10 follows Kusanagi after her prosthetic body is destroyed, forcing her to escape with Batou while her cyberbrain remains intact.

The official synopsis also teases another encounter with the Puppet Master, suggesting that the mysterious hacker’s connection to Kusanagi will remain central as the story reaches its final chapter.

The official website confirmed that Episode 10 would air in Japan on September 8 and become available through Prime Video at 11:30 p.m. JST.
