Common Side Effects Season 2 will premiere on Adult Swim on January 24, 2027, at 11 p.m. ET/PT, with new episodes streaming the following day on HBO Max. The renewal’s release date was announced at New York Comic Con on October 9, 2026, by series co-creators Joe Bennett, known for Scavengers Reign, and Steve Hely, whose credits include Veep.
The acclaimed animated thriller follows the consequences of discovering a mysterious mushroom with extraordinary healing properties. Its second season will continue the story of Marshall and Frances, former lab partners who possess knowledge that could transform medicine but also puts them in danger. Now fugitives, the pair must confront the consequences of their discovery as the secret attracts powerful attention.
The series is executive produced by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, the creative team behind King of the Hill. Its return follows a successful first season that earned major animation awards recognition and nominations across the television industry.

The new season stars Dave King as Marshall and Emily Pendergast as Frances, alongside Martha Kelly, Joseph Lee Anderson, and Mike Judge. The story follows the two former lab partners as they try to protect their discovery while facing the enormous consequences of possessing a mushroom capable of curing almost any illness.

Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen said the series continues to push animation into new territory. Co-creators Bennett and Hely also promised more surprising stories, humor, and questions about humanity’s problems.
The first season received a Peabody Award, won four Annie Awards, including Best Mature Animated Television/Broadcast Production, and earned Emmy and Independent Spirit Award nominations. Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, known for King of the Hill, return as executive producers.
Common Side Effects Season 2 premieres Sunday, January 24, 2027, at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Adult Swim. Episodes will stream on HBO Max the following day.
