Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters Launches With 22 National Teams and 110+ Playable Characters

CAPTAIN TSUBASA 2: WORLD FIGHTERS is now available, bringing the popular anime and manga series back to video game consoles with a new international soccer adventure. Players once again follow Tsubasa Ozora as he represents Japan and competes against powerful rivals on the road to the World Youth Championship.

The new game expands the series with 22 national teams, more than 110 playable characters, and over 150 special moves and cinematic sequences. Bandai Namco Entertainment confirmed that the title is available in Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate Editions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Tsubasa Faces Global Rivals on the Road to the World Youth Championship

The story follows Japan as it takes on some of the strongest teams in the Captain Tsubasa universe. Players can compete against soccer powerhouses including Brazil, Argentina, the Netherlands, and Mexico, while the game also features more than five club teams and five high school teams.

A special team called Real Japan, which appeared in the original Captain Tsubasa manga, is also part of the roster. The journey eventually leads Tsubasa and his teammates toward the highly competitive World Youth Championship, where players must overcome increasingly difficult rivals.

Bandai Namco also confirmed that the game features an original story and fan-favorite characters from the long-running franchise. The expanded roster allows players to control many familiar faces while developing their skills and competing for international glory.

The sequel continues the franchise’s signature Super Action Soccer gameplay, combining traditional soccer mechanics with the exaggerated special techniques that made Captain Tsubasa famous. Passing, dribbling, tackling, blocking, and shooting can all lead to spectacular anime-inspired sequences.

One of the new gameplay systems focuses on battles between the shooter and goalkeeper, allowing players to counter powerful signature shots and defensive moves. These dramatic clashes are designed to make goal-scoring attempts more tactical while retaining the series’ over-the-top style.

Tadayoshi Makino also returns as the game’s composer, contributing more than 80 new music tracks. With its larger roster, expanded international competition, and enhanced action systems, CAPTAIN TSUBASA 2: WORLD FIGHTERS marks the franchise’s return to the virtual pitch after more than six years.
