Berserk of Gluttony is officially returning for Season 2 in 2027, marking the next chapter in Fate Graphite’s dark fantasy journey. The anime first aired in Fall 2023 and gained international attention for its action-heavy story about a young man who discovers that his supposedly useless Gluttony skill can steal the abilities of those he kills.
The second season was previously greenlit, but the latest official announcement confirms that the new episodes are scheduled to air in 2027. The announcement also arrived with a celebratory message from Ryota Osaka, the Japanese voice of Fate, who revealed that production is already moving forward. Based on Isshiki Ichirin’s Berserk of Gluttony: The One That Exceeds the Concept of Levels, the franchise has expanded across light novels, manga, and anime, with total circulation now surpassing 2.2 million copies.
Ryota Osaka Confirms Berserk of Gluttony Season 2 Recording Has Begun
Ryota Osaka shared his excitement about the official Season 2 announcement after previously hearing that a continuation could depend on the production staff’s schedules.
“I’m genuinely happy that we can finally make this official announcement,”
Osaka said.
The actor also confirmed that voice recording for Berserk of Gluttony Season 2 is already underway. Osaka will once again work alongside Tomokazu Seki, who voices the sentient sword Greed, with their characters expected to continue sharing plenty of dialogue.
Osaka revealed that Seki often adds improvisation during recording sessions, leading him to respond with ad-libs of his own.
“Mr. Seki throws in quite a lot of ad-libs, and I react by tossing in a few of my own,”
Osaka said, adding that he is looking forward to discovering which exchanges make the final version.
He also teased a lively recording environment, saying,
“Everyone is getting along, having fun, and pouring their absolute hearts and souls into their performances.”
According to Osaka, Season 2 will feature both weekly guest stars and familiar cast members.
Fate’s Dark Fantasy Story Continues
The story takes place in a world where a person’s future is determined by their skills. Fate is initially trapped at the bottom of society because his Gluttony ability appears to do nothing except leave him constantly hungry.
Everything changes after he kills an intruder and discovers Gluttony’s true power. Fate can absorb the skills and abilities of those he defeats, giving him access to terrifying strength while placing him at risk of being consumed by his own hunger.
His journey changes further when he encounters Greed, a sentient weapon with a Sin-branded skill. Alongside his allies, including the Holy Knight Roxy Heart, Fate begins fighting against the unjust world that once treated him as worthless.
Season 1 saw Fate struggle to protect Roxy and his companions while controlling Gluttony’s increasingly dangerous power. With Season 2 now confirmed for 2027, the anime will continue the story of the former outcast as his power and the threats surrounding him continue to grow.
The returning main Japanese cast includes Ryota Osaka as Fate, Tomokazu Seki as Greed, Hisako Tojo as Roxy, Misato Matsuoka as Myne, and Hitomi Sekine as Eris. Season 1 was directed by Tetsuya Yanagisawa and animated by ACGT.
