Formed in 1996, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION is a four-member band that first gained attention with their 2002 release “Destructive Amplifier,” followed by their major debut a year later. In 2003, they launched the NANO-MUGEN Fes., an annual event that expanded over the years.
The band invited international artists like WEEZER and MANIC STREET PREACHERS, showcasing a wide range of genres to their fans.
As of 2021, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION has been together for 25 years, with their 20th major debut anniversary celebrated in April 2023. Gotoh’s lyrics, filled with realistic frustration and even despair, have become a driving force behind the band’s powerful and emotionally charged music.
Their unique “Japanese sounding rock” has resonated with fans across generations, securing their place as leaders in the music scene.
