BTS leader RM sparked significant online discussion following a surprisingly raw and heavy late-night Weverse livestream on November 7, 2025.

In the broadcast, the idol spoke with uncharacteristic transparency about the current state of BTS, addressing not only the highly anticipated group comeback but also the profound and irreversible changes in the group’s internal dynamics and his role as their leader.

His remarks highlighted the immense pressure and responsibility he bears as the group navigates its next chapter.

Setting Boundaries: The Demand for Individual Recognition

A central point of RM’s frustration during the livestream was the relentless stream of comments asking about other BTS members during his solo broadcast.

While he had intended the stream to be a direct and personal communication with fans, the constant focus on his bandmates forced a surprisingly raw response.

He explicitly asked viewers to refrain from seeking out other members on his platform, clearly stating that if his bandmates “wanted to turn on lives, they would.”

RM reiterated this plea in both Korean and English, underscoring his stance and the “upsetting” nature of the repeated inquiries.

He explained that this frustration stemmed from the constant expectation that he must speak for and represent the entire team—a role that has become unsustainable given the members’ collective growth.

The Changing Reality of The “Whole Team”

RM took the opportunity to address his evolving role as the group’s leader. He explained that while he used to speak for the whole team in the early days, particularly up until 2017–2018, that is no longer possible.

He emphasized that the seven members of BTS have matured into distinct, individual artists with their own “varied lifestyles” and “own personalities.”

“Since I’m just one person, I cannot represent our whole team. Until 2017–18, I did a lot, but now all of our members have varied lifestyles, their own personalities.”

This statement was widely interpreted by fans as RM drawing a clear boundary and providing a “reality check.”

Many saw it as him affirming that the members are whole individuals whose lives, schedules, and even controversies are now separate from his direct responsibility.

Fans expressed empathy for the immense “burden” he carries, acknowledging that expecting one person to represent an empire of seven global superstars is an impossible task—a reflection of “how enormous they’ve become.”

The Pressure of Return and Disbandment Discussions

Beyond personal boundaries, RM provided candid insight into the logistical and emotional challenges surrounding BTS’s return to group activities after completing their mandatory military service.

He addressed the fan disappointment that the group had not released any collective content in late 2025, despite all members being discharged.

He explained that there are specific, unstated reasons and logistical hurdles preventing a swift comeback, which he is not at liberty to disclose.

He also admitted that the creative and quality standards of their music must be satisfied before it can be released, implying that the rush to simply put out content is not an option for a group of their stature.

Furthermore, RM made a shocking, albeit brief, admission that the idea of disbandment or a prolonged hiatus had been a constant source of discussion during the planning for their future.

He stated that the thought of pausing group activities “tens of thousands of times” had crossed their minds.

However, he concluded this heavy thought by reaffirming the members’ dedication: “we LOVE our TEAM and it’s because of the love and hope from all of you watching right now! that we can decide to KEEP GOING.”

The System and The Employee Status

Finally, RM touched upon the fundamental change in the organizational structure surrounding the group.

He noted the shift in their company’s status, moving from Big Hit Entertainment to a listed corporate entity. With this change, he positioned himself in a new light:

“As you know, the company I joined, Big Hit and all that is different now. It’s a listed company and I am also just one employee, so even if I want them to announce things fast, it can’t go that way.”

This comment highlighted the bureaucratic and corporate limitations he faces, even as the leader of the group.

The livestream’s serious tone left a “heavy” impression on many viewers, leading to widespread empathy for RM.

Fans acknowledged the immense pressure he is under, juggling complex diplomacies, ongoing public scrutiny, and the changing demands of a multibillion-dollar enterprise, all while trying to maintain his and the other members’ integrity and creative satisfaction.
