In November 2019, Diablo 4 received its official announcement, and it was June 2023 when it was launched. Blizzard made many decisions for the game’s launch period that were both right and wrong, but they expected it to be the most visionary installment in the series. The original Diablo, which was released in 1997, established the isometric action-RPG hack-and-slash looting subgenre, and we know every game that follows in its footsteps as a Diablo clone.

The horror fantasy genre is just one of the many cool features that appeal to fans and players of the Diablo series and Diablo 4 in particular. Many other games share features with Diablo 4 that make it fun, including gear, weapons, and attack animations.

Since Diablo 4 has been available for a while, some players may be wondering if other games compare to it that they can play in 2023. Although the most recent installment of the Diablo series from Blizzard is distinctive in its ARPG giving, some other games can provide a comparable experience. So today, we will give you the Top 10 games related to Diablo 4 and make your game’s playlist fresh as it always should be.

10. Warhammer: Chaosbane

Since Warhammer and Diablo have a lot in common, it is that Diablo players are skilled in Warhammer. Despite this, Warhammer has created roughly a billion video games, the majority of which are ignored by people who are not ardent fans of the tabletop game.

One such game is Warhammer: Chaosbane, which is a shame because, of the player’s familiarity with the overall brand, they should be entertained by its hack-and-slash gameplay.

This new approach gave this well-liked universe dynamic systems with more than 70 monsters, a tonne of bosses for epic war, and a variety of classes to suit any playstyle. This fresh take on what it means to play a Warhammer game offers plenty of replayability thanks to its size, classes, campaign, and other modes.

The six character classes available in the Warhammer Fantasy universe are the High Elf mage, the Dwarf slayer, the Wood Elf scout, the Dwarf engineer, and the Human Witch Hunter. The protagonist must aid in defending the Empire from the chaos demons.

9. Champions: Return To Arms

Champions: Return to Arms, a PS2 exclusive that uses Snowblind’s Dark Alliance engine, is the sequel to Champions of Norath and is set in the Everquest universe. Champions, in contrast to Everquest, is a top-down action role-playing game where players can battle either by themselves or with other players.

Champions: Return to Arms also offers good and evil options that have an impact on the storyline and mission requirements. It will impress fans of Diablo with the breadth and depth of Champions, which offers more than 100 hours of gameplay and branching storylines.

The story follows Innoruuk, the Prince of Hate, who has been defeated, and his essence has fragmented into the Shards of Hatred, which have been scattered throughout the Power Planes.

By destroying the shards to exterminate Innoruuk from the world or by gathering the shards to bring the fallen god back to life in the game’s narrative, players are able to back either the forces of good or the legions of Evil. With different mission objectives, the paths of Good and Evil arrive at the same places.

8. Pathfinder: Kingmaker

Look no further than Pathfinder: Kingmaker if you’re looking for a game like Diablo that was created by isometric ARPG fans for isometric ARPG fans. This is the studio at Owlcat Games’ first game, and it is set in the Stolen Lands.

This should scratch the same high fantasy itch as Diablo 4, thanks to its thrilling combat, party system, an abundance of weapons and armor to collect, and a vast world to explore.

In addition, developers with a solid track record, including those who have worked on games like Fallout 2 and Dying Light 2, are in charge of the story in Pathfinder: Kingmaker. If you enjoy those games, which are both regarded as some of the best RPGs available, you probably will enjoy Pathfinder: Kingmaker as well.

7. Hades

Diablo 4 allows players to experiment with the gods of hell. In Hades, a wonderful rogue-like game from Supergiant Games, that is your task. It maintains a top-down, isometric perspective, much like Diablo 4. You can choose which weapon and modifications to use while on each of your runs, but there are fewer RPG components like classes to take into account.

Also among the more forgiving roguelikes is Hades. Because you don’t lose everything when you die, it’s quite satisfying to keep playing as Zagreus gains strength.

The son of Hades, Zagreus, is controlled by the players when he makes his way from the Underworld to Mount Olympus. At times, Zagreus is helped by gifts bestowed upon him by the other Olympians.

Each run tests the player when they progress through a haphazard series of rooms filled with foes and rewards. The player uses a combination of their weapon attack, a special attack, a dash ability, and a magic ability to defeat enemies while avoiding damage to advance when they can in the game.

The ongoing conflict between Heaven and Hell, the fate of the world caught in the middle of it, and the ARPG design all make it resemble the post-apocalyptic tale found in Diablo.

Aetherials, which are non-corporeal beings that can grant humans special abilities after temporarily inhabiting their bodies, are mentioned in the plot (means of communication). Due to the game’s futuristic setting, classes like Demolitionist and Occultist are available for you to level up and customize.

The PC version of Crate Entertainment’s Grim Dawn was released in 2016. Using funding from Kickstarter, the action role-playing game was successfully produced. The Gothic-Victorian setting was used in the game, which was created with Titan Quest’s PathEngine.

5. Baldur’s Gate 3

You can’t go wrong with Baldur’s Gate 3 if you’re looking for a game that plays a little more slowly than Diablo 4 and is similar to it. By far the most recent game on this list, Baldur’s Gate 3 transforms the tried-and-true Dungeons & Dragons ruleset into a full-fledged, 3D RPG.

Be aware that there isn’t much action-based combat in this game. You’ll need to approach combat situations much more strategically rather than frantically pressing buttons while waiting for skills to cool down and running around in circles.

The role-playing video game Baldur’s Gate 3 features both a single-player and a cooperative multiplayer component. To explore the game’s plot, players can create one or more characters and assemble a party with computer-generated characters. Players can choose to take one of their characters and form an online party with other players using that character.

Characters and narrative structure are the cornerstones of Baldur’s Gate 3. Your choice of dialogue options will determine where the story goes, with the characters’ lives frequently hanging in the balance. Although it’s a change of pace, if you like Diablo 4, you’ll probably also like a game like Baldur’s Gate 3.

4. Torchlight 2

Torchlight 2 continues the tradition established with the first game by having players witness the destruction of a city at the beginning of the game. The game combines rogue-like mazes, RPG, and an occult setting. There is a main plot that explains why Torchlight was destroyed and an optional side quest that is not related to the main campaign.

Torchlight II is nearly Diablo as a video game can get with the Schaefers on board. Over its predecessor, the sequel offered a number of enhancements, including co-op multiplayer and more class options. The Engineer, Outlander, Berserker, and Embermage are the four classes available.

In the fantasy setting of Torchlight II, the player character can belong to one of four classes, each of which has skills. The character follows the path of destruction left in the Alchemist’s wake when he looks for a cure for the illness that has driven him insane. The plot begins with the destruction of the town of Torchlight by the Alchemist from the first game.

3. The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3, undoubtedly the best RPG of the most recent generation, is a monumental conclusion to Geralt’s saga. There isn’t much negativity about CDProjekt RED’s magnum opus, which comes with RPG mechanics, a gorgeous world, and one of the most brilliant fantasy stories you’ll ever play.

These games share quite a bit in common, despite the fact that Diablo 4 could not be the first game that comes to mind when you think of alternatives. The similarities mostly relate to tones.

In contrast to earlier Diablo games, which emphasized the evil brought about by the spawn of Hell, Diablo 4 has a greater emphasis on the scourge of humanity. This is true of The Witcher 3, which emphasizes how evil people can be in addition to the monsters that hunt them.

The game takes place in an imaginary world influenced by Slavic mythology. Players control of Geralt of Rivia, a hired witcher who hunts down monsters, and they look for his adopted daughter, who is evading the supernatural Wild Hunt.

2. Path of Exile

Old Diablo games the blatantly inspired Path of Exile and wears its influences on its sleeve. You will create a character entirely from scratch using one of the many customizable classes in isometric ARPG gameplay. With a skill tree that seems to go on forever, Path of Exile has one of the most strong and wide skill upgrade systems of any game in this genre.

Furthermore, Path of Exile has always been 100 percent free to play since its 2013 release. There is an insane number of stories, mazes, and loot to be experienced in this massive game, which has almost a decade’s worth of content to catch up on.

Even better, updates continue to be made to it. It would, therefore, be difficult to find a better choice than Path of Exile if you’re looking for a significantly less expensive substitute for Diablo 4.

The island nation of Oriath’s government exiles its citizens to the continent of Wraeclast, which was home to numerous ancient deities, in the grim fantasy game Path of Exile. A follow-up to Path of Exile is currently being created. It was first introduced as a sizable update to the original game in 2019. The developer revealed that it would be a different game in 2023.

1. Vikings: Wolves Of Midgard

The game’s mythology and plot could be more interesting. On the other hand, defeating giant trolls and hefty bosses feels fantastic. Anyone looking for a different game than Diablo should check out Vikings’ Wolves of Midgard.

As we have said, it is similar to Diablo because of its functions, which are customizing the characters and creating their own characters, which will give you an immense amount of nostalgia for Diablo 4. The Open World function will give you chills throughout the game, where you will find several quests and many different places like icy caverns, Viking cities, snowy valleys, and more.

A member of the Ulfung tribe that the player controls moves between hub areas that are connected by linear, self-contained levels, including his or her home village.

Boss encounters, simple puzzles, and collectibles are typically used to wrap up story missions.
