America’s proudest and one of the most successful franchises, one that has fans going crazy over it, has to be the Star Wars Franchise. Though in the present time, there are way too many projects associated with its name even to keep count, the original franchise just had three space-inspired movies, which at the time were one of its kind for exploring the space genre in such depth.

The first three movies were titled, Episode IV: A New Hope, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and the last one, Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. The concept of such movies, at the time, was so new for the audience that it did not take the makers very long to have the viewers hooked to these movies. Soon, the success of the original three films brought in a new set of three prequels to the original movies, followed by three more films as a sequel to the original three.

All of the nine Star Wars films have been such commercial successes and so critically acclaimed it is impossible for people not to know of them. Presently, the franchise has expanded its movies into video games, television series, comic books, official merchandise, and so much more; it is clear that they are going to milk its success as much as possible.

While avid fans of the franchise would require no explanations regarding the idea behind the movie, clueless people fresh out from under the rock can understand the Star Wars world as another universe, much more technologically advanced than ours. It is a universe where humans, aliens, and robots live in the same community and where traveling through space is similar to a casual stroll in a park.

Their technology is so advanced, you could easily assume that nothing is all that impossible for them. The producers of the movie have also taken creative liberties in terms of physics and its well-established laws, which the show deliberately ignores under the pretext of storytelling.

The story of the franchise is not much different than other science films, which involve all sorts of emotional stories and badass fights. The only difference is that Star Wars has managed to literally create an imaginative world, with the makers having paid so much attention to detail in building different aspects of the universe.

As easy as it is to lose oneself in this intriguing world, one has also to stop and ask who the genius behind all of this is who managed to create a full-blown universe out of their mind.

The Creator of the Star Wars

The man behind the Star Wars universe, the one who singlehandedly managed to build an empire for himself and an alternate reality for others, is a filmmaker called George Lucas. He is also the guy behind another very successful franchise called Indiana Jones, but we all know which one actually put him under the spotlight.

The seventy-nine-year filmmaker was the founder of Lucasfilm, the production house that produced the first six Star Wars movies, but in 2012 he sold his production company to the Walt Disney Company as a way to step away from the big productions and films. Even before Star Wars had been released, George had produced films like American Graffiti, which did extremely well and even won a bunch of Grammys.

The release of Star Wars was going to bring about such a change in the film genres and become a cultural phenomenon itself, was in fact, unforeseen. But the eventual success of the film pushed him to release two more films, all the while also working on his Indiana Jones films franchise. In 1999, he made a comeback to the Star Wars franchise, this time to direct the next three installments of the franchise.

These three prequels to the original movies worked out well once again, forcing George to work on a Star Wars-inspired television series and a few other extended films, helping with the direction, minute details, and the CGI that was to be used in them.

After selling his company to Disney in 2012, the latter continued to release more content related to the franchise, leading it forward with George still being involved in the making process, just not as heavily. It was revealed that George took the step of selling his production company and stepping away from big production and big-budget movies because of his desire to work on more independent movies.

It was also revealed that he wanted the movies to be made by a production company that actually understood the newer, younger generation in a way to keep up the Star Wars franchise in line with the newer trends. George may have sold his company and taken a break from creating big-budget movies, but the Star Wars universe continues to be just as alive as it was all those years ago when it was first launched.
