Apple TV Plus has recently released the periodic drama series The Buccaneers, which is loosely based on Edith Wharton’s 1938 novel. The story revolves around a group of beautiful women who travel to London in search of an aristocratic husband who will give them the lucrative life that they want.
As series showrunner Katherine Jakeways has taken inspiration from the novel, the makers have made a few changes to the story, a different arc altogether.
As Jakeways explained, they got an absolute period drama show that has all of the ingredients that they love, but also, crucially for them, and it is a show that has female friendship at the absolute heart of the newly released show. Who Does Nan End Up With In The Buccaneers?
At the end of the novel, Nan ends up marrying the Duke of Tintagel, who is also known as Theo. However, by the end of the story, the marriage seems to be short-lived and crumbles.
That is when Nan is reunited with her true love, Guy, as they seemingly run to Greece. The new Apple Plus series has, however, opted for a different perspective, and it will be interesting to see how the love triangle between Nan, Theo, and Guy continues.
Series showrunner Katherine Jakeways has opened up about the romantic plot while saying how they all love the love triangle and assured viewers that they will spend time in that story strand as well, as they have already managed to make that hopefully a sort of genuine question of who is a better choose for Nan.
While talking about Nan’s fate, Katherine further explained that they wanted to infuse the characters so that they feel a bit more rounded and more truthful, so that it feels like their lives and friendships are reflected in us. This is what the series show-runner said while hinting at a larger love story beyond Nan and Guy.
How Can You Watch ‘The Buccaneers’?
While Apple TV has released a brand new period drama series titled ‘The Buccaneers,’ the series has managed to make a buzz already, and you can binge-watch the newly released episodes on Apple TV+.

Is The Buccaneers Season 2 Happening?
While The Buccaneers is going to release more episodes in December, the series is yet to be renewed for season 2. Series showrunner Jakeways is, however, hopeful for a second season as she stated how they are desperate to spend more time in the world of these people, and there is so much sort of opportunity for more story for them.
Series creator Katherine Jakeways further added that, at the moment, their heads are so much in this season and pointed out that the joy in hoping that everybody feels as passionate about it as they do that they have not sort of talked about a possible second season properly.
On the other hand, the music team is pretty excited about a possible second season as they are already gearing up while discussing their work for season 2.
Music supervisor Matt Biffa stated that he will always gonna come at it from as big as he can off the bat, as the team already secured pop star Taylor Swift for season 1.
Biffa explained that what might be easier for season two is that people will have seen season one and understand what it is all about, and if viewers see it and they are fans of the show, then it will just make it easier.
