By order of the Peaky Blinders, Tommy Shelby is back in action. We now have our first look at the upcoming Peaky Blinders film, though its official title has yet to be confirmed.
Along with this exciting preview, we get to see Cillian Murphy return as Tommy Shelby, the powerful and iconic leader of the Birmingham gangster family.
An update from the set reveals, “Cillian Murphy and Steven Knight are reunited on set as production officially starts on the upcoming Netflix film.”
In the image, Murphy stands against a dark brick wall, showing visibly silver hair, which suggests that time has passed in the story.
Alongside Murphy, the film will feature well-known stars like Tim Roth, Rebecca Ferguson, and Barry Keoghan. There’s also been talk that Tom Hardy is interested in making a return to the franchise.
What Is the Peaky Blinders Movie About?
With production now officially underway, plot details are still scarce, which is expected at this early stage. However, creator Steven Knight hinted at some possibilities during an interview with Esquire.
He mentioned that the movie would center around two key stories, though he prefers to let the story naturally unfold as filming progresses.
He shared that the movie will continue to stay close to the Shelbys, focusing on the next generation of characters while keeping Tommy Shelby in a central role, as fans would expect.
In his own words from the Esquire interview, Knight said:
“The film, I know exactly what it’s about. And I know what two stories it’s going to tell. How the story will unfold, I don’t know. What will happen after that, I want that to depend on the film. For all we know, somebody will pop out – I think I know who it will be.
In series six, we’re bringing in the new generation, and they will be part of what happens in the film. I think it’s finding those actors that you just watch, and you think, there you go. There’s the future.”
