The Vermilion Mask has taken a major step toward its highly anticipated debut by unveiling its first main promotional video (PV), confirming its Japanese voice cast, and reaffirming its October 2026 streaming premiere. Adapted from the manga written by Dr. Poro and illustrated by Nabana Naba, the series promises an action-packed fantasy centered around cursed masks, redemption, and destiny.

The newly released PV offers fans their first in-depth look at the anime’s emotional story and large-scale battles. It follows Peru d’Arrest, a young mask craftsman burdened by a tragic past after losing control of the powerful Mask of the Warrior God, an event that led him to unintentionally kill both his friends and his master. Now determined to prevent history from repeating itself, Peru embarks on a dangerous mission to destroy every mask created by his late master before they can cause more devastation.

Produced by One Double-O studio, the anime combines high-stakes sword fights with emotional character drama as Peru confronts both powerful enemies and his own guilt.

First PV Teases Peru’s Fight Against Fate

The newly released trailer opens with Peru reflecting on the tragedy that changed his life forever before declaring, “I’ll destroy all of my master’s masks!” The footage quickly shifts into fast-paced battles, introducing allies, rivals, and mysterious masked warriors who stand in the protagonist’s path.

Rather than focusing solely on action, the preview highlights the series’ central themes of regret, redemption, and forgiveness. Every conflict appears tied to the supernatural masks that grant incredible power but often bring unimaginable consequences to those who wear them.

The story follows Peru as he searches the world for his master’s creations while facing enemies whose lives have also been shaped by the masks’ influence.

Main Voice Cast Brings the Characters to Life

Leading the cast is Taihi Kimura as Peru d’Arrest, a role that follows his recent announcement as Chihiro Rokuhira in the upcoming Kagurabachi anime. Joining him are Yuuki Yamamoto as former princess Sonarue Maywood, Kazuki Ura as Mok Sharib, Takanori Hoshino as the swordsman Gouon, Wataru Komada as Totoque, Junya Enoki as Zent, Kazuhiko Inoue as legendary mask craftsman Gaston, and Akio Otsuka as the fearsome Mask of the Warrior God.

The veteran-filled cast reflects the production’s ambition to deliver both emotionally charged performances and memorable confrontations throughout the series.

Cast Shares Their Thoughts on the Story

Speaking about Peru’s emotional journey, Taihi Kimura explained that the protagonist carries a burden far beyond what one person should bear.

“Rather than simply empathizing with Peru, I approached the recording with the feeling of shouldering his past together with him.”

Kimura added that he hopes viewers will witness Peru’s growth while embracing the story’s themes of forgiveness and redemption.

Yuuki Yamamoto, who voices Sonarue Maywood, revealed that the manga’s exploration of guilt immediately stood out to her.

“When I read the original manga… I felt a deep thematic question: how does one come to forgive one’s own sins?”

She also encouraged viewers to pay attention not only to the anime’s action sequences but also to the subtle emotional growth of its characters.

Meanwhile, Kazuki Ura described the masks as symbols of people’s ideal selves, saying they range from exciting dream-like creations to terrifying supernatural objects that shape the story’s central conflict.

Veteran actor Akio Otsuka, who voices the Mask of the Warrior God, joked about his intimidating role, saying he intends to

“torment the protagonist with all my heart and soul,”

while hinting that fans have yet to discover the true extent of the character’s power.

The comments were shared through the anime’s official announcement.

Story Focuses on Redemption Through Battle

The Vermilion Mask centers on a world where magical masks grant extraordinary abilities but often come with devastating consequences. Peru, once the apprentice of legendary mask maker Gaston Roux, becomes possessed by the Mask of the Warrior God, resulting in the accidental deaths of his companions and mentor.

Haunted by that tragedy, he vows to hunt down every remaining mask created by Gaston before anyone else falls victim to their power. Along the way, Peru forms new friendships, confronts dangerous enemies, and slowly searches for redemption while resisting the same darkness that once controlled him.

The series blends fantasy adventure with personal drama, making Peru’s internal struggle just as important as the battles themselves.
