The curtain has closed on the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards, celebrating a year of cinematic achievement on November 19, 2025 (KST).
However, the focus of the event was unexpectedly drawn away from the winners and onto the skills of the master of ceremonies.
Actress Han Ji Min, who hosted the prestigious event for the second consecutive year, received overwhelmingly negative reviews, with a prominent Korean news outlet openly questioning her capabilities to smoothly guide one of the nation’s most important film ceremonies.
Stepping Into Big Shoes: The Post-Kim Hye Soo Era
Han Ji Min took on a role burdened by massive expectation, having succeeded the legendary actress Kim Hye Soo following the 44th ceremony in 2023.
Kim Hye Soo had been the established “face of Blue Dragon” for three decades, setting an incredibly high bar for any successor. Han Ji Min began her tenure with the 45th ceremony in 2024.
This year, the 46th ceremony marked her second attempt to fill those significant shoes, yet according to the report from THE FACT, her performance fell short of stabilizing the event.

The Scathing Review of THE FACT
The Korean news outlet THE FACT delivered a particularly harsh critique, stating that despite a full year of preparation, the actress’s “improvement was minimal.”

The review acknowledged that she appeared slightly more composed and made fewer obvious mistakes than the previous year, but ultimately, she failed to overcome the visible tension and pressure of the role.
This internal discomfort reportedly translated into a disjointed and unengaging delivery for the audience.
Technical Flaws and Lack of Chemistry
The criticism was not limited to her composure but targeted the technical aspects of her performance.
THE FACT pointed out that her delivery was characterized by a “stiff, almost textbook-like tone,” indicating a lack of personal ownership and connection to the script.
Compounding this issue were instances of “occasional mispronunciations and incomplete sentence endings,” which significantly diminished the overall clarity of her presentation.
Furthermore, her hosting partner, co-host Lee Je Hoon, attempted to inject some levity with lighthearted ad-libs, but Han Ji Min “struggled to respond naturally,” resulting in a noticeable absence of the necessary on-screen chemistry or charm that anchors live broadcasts.
Uncertain Future for the Host
Despite the overwhelmingly negative public opinion surrounding her performance, the review offered a glimmer of hope, suggesting that Han Ji Min retains the potential to become a worthy successor to Kim Hye Soo, provided her “skills stabilize.”
The outlet implied that the actress possesses the foundational elements but currently lacks the polished execution and spontaneity required for a ceremony of this magnitude.
As the film industry and fans digest the strong criticism, all attention is now directed toward the organizers.
The key question remains: will Han Ji Min be invited back to host the 47th Blue Dragon Film Awards next year, or will the negative reception necessitate a change in leadership for the prestigious event?
