Netflix’s popular political thriller The Diplomat made a big impact with its first season finale. The show ended with a dramatic explosion in the final episode, which could have been risky for the series if it hadn’t been renewed.

Season 2 will not skip ahead in time. It will pick up right after the explosion from Season 1, with Kate and her team dealing with the Prime Minister’s treason.
While it is clear that the Prime Minister was behind the explosion, there are still many questions and other suspects to explore. How this will impact Kate’s Vice President hopes remains to be seen.
Season 1’s end might have left the characters dealing with grief, but it also included strong performances from David Gyasi, Ato Essandoh, Ali Ahn, and others.
