The Baki Manga Series Has Reached 100 Million Copies In Total Print

Today, on May 21, Japanese publisher Akita Shoten unveiled a remarkable achievement for Keisuke Itagaki’s martial arts manga series Baki: it has achieved a total print run of 100 million copies.

To celebrate this achievement, the manga series’ official YouTube channel is streaming a special video narrated by Akio Otsuka, known for his role as Yujiro Hanma in the anime adaptation.

The video features the song “HEADSHOT!” from metalcore band Crossfaith’s upcoming album “AЯK,” set for release on June 26. Additionally, a limited edition K18 yellow gold figure of Yujiro Hanma will be available, with only 30 pieces priced at 3,850,000 yen (approximately $24,600 USD).

A silver SV925 (rhodium-plated) version will also be released, limited to 100 pieces and priced at 385,000 yen (approximately $2,460 USD). Pre-orders for these figures will be accepted on U-TREASURE from May 21 to August 15, 2024, with shipments expected to begin on November 22, 2024.

The Baki manga series, which began with “Baki the Grappler” in October 1991 in Weekly Shonen Champion magazine, has seen multiple sequels, including “Baki” (1999-2005), “Baki Hanma” (2006-2012), “Baki-Dou” (2014-2018), “Bakidou” (2018-2023), and “Bakirahen” (2023-present).
