Two fantasy anime series, Sword of the Demon Hunter and My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha: Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon, I’m Out for Revenge!, are coming to Blu-ray in the UK on October 26, 2026, courtesy of Acorn Media International. The releases offer fans physical editions of two Japanese productions built around revenge, dangerous supernatural powers, and battles against powerful enemies.

Sword of the Demon Hunter is a 24-episode historical fantasy series that follows a swordsman whose life changes after an encounter with a powerful demon. Spanning the Edo period and modern day, the story combines samurai action with tragedy, romance, and a prophecy threatening humanity. The series is produced by Yokohama Animation Laboratory and directed by Kazuya Aiura, known for Assassins Pride.

Meanwhile, My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha takes a different approach to fantasy storytelling. Animated by J.C.Staff and directed by Katsushi Sakurabi, the 12-episode series follows a revenge-driven adventure involving magic, betrayal, and dungeon battles. Both releases are based on existing Japanese novel and manga properties, giving anime fans two distinct fantasy stories to explore on Blu-ray.

SWORD OF THE DEMON HUNTER BLU-RAY DETAILS AND STORY

The story begins with siblings Jinta and Suzune escaping their abusive father and finding refuge in the mountain village of Kadono. As Jinta grows older, he becomes the village’s guardian and vows to protect its shrine maiden, for whom he develops romantic feelings.

His life takes a darker turn when he defeats a powerful demon, gains its abilities, and learns of a prophecy involving a Demon God who will threaten humanity. After a devastating family revelation and betrayal by someone close to him, Jinta changes his name and travels across Japan in search of his sister and answers about the future.

The Blu-ray edition will include the complete 24-episode series across two discs, with a reported running time of 720 minutes. Special features include clean opening and closing animations and Japanese promotional videos. Viewers can choose between the original Japanese audio with English subtitles and an English-dubbed version.

The release is listed under catalogue number AB2115, carries a 15 certificate, and has a recommended retail price of £34.99.

The second release, My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha: Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon, I’m Out for Revenge!, brings a shorter fantasy adventure to Blu-ray on the same date. Based on the light novel and manga series by Shisui Meikyō, the 12-episode anime centres on revenge and combines magic, violence, and dungeon-based action.

Katsushi Sakurabi directs the series, while J.C.Staff handles its animation. Its premise focuses on betrayal and a quest for revenge, distinguishing it from the historical setting and centuries-spanning narrative of Sword of the Demon Hunter.

Both Blu-ray releases are scheduled for October 26, 2026, through Acorn Media International. The announcement provides fans with a physical-media option for two fantasy anime series with different approaches to supernatural conflict and revenge.
