Joe Hisaishi has added three Guinness World Records to his remarkable career, receiving recognition for a series of major concert runs in Japan and the United States.
The composer was honored for the “most tickets sold by a classical composer at the Tokyo Dome (single run),” the “highest-selling classical run in the Hollywood Bowl,” and the “longest residency by a classical composer at Radio City Music Hall (single run).”
The recognition follows Hisaishi’s recent international concert success. His Studio Ghibli Film Concert Tour Final at Tokyo Dome set the first of the three records, while his 2026 Joe Hisaishi Cinema Music Concert tour continued with three performances alongside the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl.

Hisaishi’s seven consecutive concerts at Radio City Music Hall in New York concluded on August 17, securing his third record. The official announcement celebrated the achievement, stating that Hisaishi had been “recognised with three Guinness World Records™” for his performances across the three iconic venues.
Hisaishi is best known worldwide for composing the music of Hayao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli films, beginning with Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. His scores for My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and numerous other films have helped define the sound of modern animation.
His official website also highlights his extensive work as a composer and conductor, including A Symphonic Celebration – Music from the Studio Ghibli Films of Hayao Miyazaki [Joe Hisaishi Official Website].
