Crunchyroll delivered one of the biggest announcements of Anime Expo 2026 by officially revealing Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, a new anime theatrical film that will continue the story after the events of Solo Leveling Season 2. The announcement was made during the Crunchyroll Showcase at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on July 3, where fans were also treated to several world premieres, exclusive trailers, and first-look reveals for upcoming anime projects.
The reveal generated one of the loudest reactions of the showcase as Aleks Le, the English voice of Sung Jinwoo, appeared on stage to confirm that “the story is far from over.” Fans attending Anime Expo became the first audience in the world to learn that the new theatrical project is officially in production. Alongside the announcement, Crunchyroll also unveiled a teaser key visual and a promotional concept video, offering an early glimpse of what’s next for the hit action fantasy franchise.
Solo Leveling: Beyond the System continues Sung Jinwoo’s journey

According to Crunchyroll, Solo Leveling: Beyond the System will serve as a direct continuation of the anime, picking up immediately after the conclusion of Season 2. While plot details remain under wraps, the announcement confirms that Sung Jinwoo’s story will continue on the big screen rather than waiting for another television season.
The film will once again be animated by A-1 Pictures, the studio behind the anime adaptation, while production is being handled by Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C MEDIA, Kakao Piccoma, and Crunchyroll. No release date has been announced, with the companies stating that additional information will be shared at a later date.
The announcement reinforces Solo Leveling’s position as one of the biggest anime franchises in recent years, with the theatrical film expected to build on the momentum created by the first two seasons.

Crunchyroll showcase featured more major anime announcements
Although Solo Leveling: Beyond the System was the centerpiece of the showcase, Crunchyroll revealed several other highly anticipated projects during Anime Expo 2026.
Fans received their first look at the characters from the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima Legends anime, which adapts the acclaimed action-adventure game. Directed by Takanobu Mizuno, the series features scripts by Satoshi Maejima and Gen Urobuchi, character designs by Takashi Okazaki, and animation from KAMIKAZE DOUGA. A premiere date has yet to be announced.
Another surprise came when Dave Grohl appeared in a special video message confirming that Nirvana’s “Breed” will serve as the opening theme for The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy At All, which is scheduled to premiere in early 2027. Meanwhile, Kagurabachi fans attending the panel were shown Chihiro Rokuhira’s provisional character design sheet and heard from Japanese voice actor Taihi Kimura during an exclusive Q&A session.

Crunchyroll also confirmed a lineup of new and returning series arriving over the next two years. Among the announcements were the manhwa adaptation Here U Are, sci-fi thriller Fate Rewinder, The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 5, Dengeki Daisy, Aoashi Season 2, Gacha Girls Corps, Magical Buffs – The Support Caster is Stronger Than He Realized!, The Vermilion Mask, and Overgeared.
