Fans of fantasy manga have a new anime to look forward to, as Soara and the House of Monsters has officially been confirmed for a 2027 TV anime adaptation. Based on Hidenori Yamaji’s manga currently serialized on Shogakukan’s Sunday Web Every, the upcoming series revealed its first ultra-teaser visual and promotional video alongside the main cast, production staff, and a commemorative illustration from the original creator.
Produced by FelixFilm, the adaptation introduces viewers to an unusual “isekai architecture” story that shifts the focus away from battles and toward building homes for monsters. Alongside the announcement, the production team also launched a special commemorative wood-carving project and shared comments from the cast and staff, highlighting what fans can expect when the anime premieres in 2027.
Soara and the House of Monsters introduces an original fantasy about building homes
Unlike traditional fantasy adventures centered on defeating monsters, Soara and the House of Monsters follows a heroine whose life changes after conflict comes to an unexpected end.
Raised solely to fight monsters, Soara discovers on the day of her first battle that the war has already ended, leaving her without a purpose. While wandering aimlessly, she encounters Kirik, a dwarf who calls himself an
“architect of the monster world.”
Together with his companions, Kirik travels across the fantasy world constructing homes for monsters that have nowhere to live.
The encounter transforms Soara’s outlook as she begins a journey focused not on combat, but on helping creatures find a place they can truly call home. The newly released teaser offers the first animated footage from the adaptation while introducing the series’ peaceful yet imaginative setting.
The anime also confirmed its leading voice cast. Ikumi Hasegawa will voice Soara, while Ayumu Murase takes on the role of Kirik.
Speaking about joining the project, Hasegawa said:
“The first time I read the manga, I was captivated by the heartwarming story and intricately drawn world. While watching Kirik and his team build houses, I felt as though I was a child reading a picture book, filled with excitement.”
She added that portraying Soara’s emotional growth as she spends time with Kirik and his companions is something she considers especially important.
Murase also praised the source material, saying:
“I was blown away by not just the originality of the content, but also by Yamaji-sensei’s breathtaking art style, the uniqueness of all the monsters, and most of all—Kirik’s way of life and charisma!”
He noted that each recording session has featured different guest performers and encouraged both manga readers and newcomers to look forward to the anime.
FelixFilm assembles experienced staff for the 2027 adaptation
The adaptation will be directed by Takaharu Ozaki, with Ayumu Hisao handling series composition, Tomoko Iwasa serving as character designer, and Hinako Tsubakiyama composing the music.
Director Takaharu Ozaki described the manga as a story that immediately drew him into its world.
“House-building is something that connects people, worlds, past and present—even time itself. ‘Soara and the House of Monsters’ is a brilliant series… Without a doubt, it is a heartwarming story that will leave its viewers deeply comforted.”
Series composer Ayumu Hisao said the manga’s message particularly resonated with him.
“Rather than fighting, struggling and hurting one another, if only there was a cozy place one could call home.”
Character designer Tomoko Iwasa explained that she hopes to faithfully portray Soara’s emotional journey alongside the series’ expressive monster designs, while composer Hinako Tsubakiyama revealed that the soundtrack was inspired by the idea that every living being deserves a place where they belong.
Anime announcement also launches special wood-carving project
To celebrate the adaptation, the production committee announced a collaboration with wood-carving artist kibori_poppo, who will create a special sculpture inspired by Soara and the House of Monsters.
Behind-the-scenes videos documenting the carving process will be released periodically until August 10, giving fans another way to follow the project ahead of the anime’s 2027 debut.
Alongside the teaser visual and first promotional video, the anime also released a special commemorative illustration by original creator Hidenori Yamaji, marking a major milestone for the fantasy series as it prepares to make the jump from manga to television.
