Yuhiro Tsujitsugu’s SNOWBALL EARTH manga has officially surpassed 1 million copies in circulation, marking a major milestone for the science-fiction series. The creator announced the achievement on September 24 while also revealing that the manga has entered its final arc.
Tsujitsugu thanked readers for supporting the series and encouraged new fans to catch up as the story moves toward its conclusion. The announcement also coincides with the upcoming release of the manga’s 12th volume in Japan on September 30.
As part of the celebration, the series is receiving its first all-volume sale, with the manga temporarily available for 100 yen per volume in Japan.
Manga Enters Its Final Arc as Anime Continues
The milestone comes shortly after SNOWBALL EARTH received confirmation of a second anime season. The television adaptation premiered in Japan on April 3, 2026, with Studio KAI handling animation production and Munehisa Sakai directing.
The manga originally began serialization in Shogakukan’s Monthly Spirits magazine in 2021. VIZ Media publishes the series in English, while Crunchyroll streams its anime adaptation across several international territories.
SNOWBALL EARTH follows Tetsuo, a shy boy whose closest companion is Yukio, a giant robot that once fought alongside him to defend Earth from invading monsters. Ten years after their final battle, Tetsuo returns to a world buried beneath snow and ice and begins searching for Yukio while trying to fulfill the promise they made to each other.
With the manga now entering its final arc and the anime returning for another season, the 1 million-copy milestone gives SNOWBALL EARTH another significant achievement as its story approaches its conclusion.
