The announcement was made by Crunchyroll on September 25, 2026, with Jinushi celebrating the achievement through newly released artwork featuring Sasaki and Tayama.
The manga originally began as a Twitter webcomic in March 2022 before moving to Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan later that year. It currently has nine collected volumes in print, showing how quickly the series has grown from an independent webcomic into a successful manga franchise.
The story follows salaryman Sasaki, who regularly takes smoking breaks behind his local supermarket. There, he forms an unusual friendship with Yamada, a cheerful supermarket employee, while also becoming acquainted with the mysterious Tayama. The series gradually explores the relationship between Sasaki and the woman behind Yamada’s different persona.
Anime Adaptation Adds to the Manga’s Momentum
