Scott Cam is an Australian TV personality known for hosting The Block series. He is also recognized for presenting other lifestyle shows like Renovation Rescue and Domestic Blitz.

Scott is considered one of the wealthiest and most successful TV hosts in Australia. In addition to his career in television, he has written two books, which have sold well in Australia.

Keep reading to learn more about Scott Cam’s net worth, assets, personal life, earnings, and more. Scott is one of Australia’s most famous TV hosts, but he keeps many details of his life private.

Personal Life of Scott Cam

Scott Cam was born on 25 November 1962 in Australia. He went to Waverly College in Sydney, Australia. After finishing school, Scott worked as an apprentice carpenter and took on various odd jobs before starting his own construction company.

He began his hosting career on Nine’s well-known lifestyle show in 2000, but the show was canceled in 2006. In 2010, Scott began hosting The Block, a role he still holds today.

The Block made Scott a household name, and he won the Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Australian TV Personality and the Silver Logie Award for Most Popular Presenter.

Scott Cam has been a brand ambassador for Mitre 10 Australia since 2011 and is also an Apprenticeships Ambassador for the Australian Government. He has been married to Ann Camm for over 30 years, and the couple enjoys a happy life together.

The Background Years

Scott Cam, host of The Block, shared the story of how he was discovered for TV, and if his experience is anything to go by, we might all want to spend more time at the pub. Speaking on Triple M’s Mick & MG in the Morning, Scott explained how he was randomly asked to do a screen test, even though he initially tried to turn it down.

“I went to the pub every afternoon, as I told my wife ‘to clear the dust away’ but it was also a way to get work from other trades,” he explained.

“There was a producer in there with his girlfriend, and he saw me yapping away and I had the ute and the dog, and he said ‘would you do a screen test – I need a carpenter for a shoot’ and I said ‘nah mate that’s not my go’.”

After turning him down, Scott thought that would be the end of it, but the producer had other plans.

“He got the number off my ute and called me and asked me again the next day. I knocked him back, but my wife said ‘you should do that, it would be something different,'” he said. “I’ve since been in the biz for 25 years.”

Thanks to the determined producer and Scott’s supportive wife Ann, Scott ended up on Backyard Blitz, and the rest is history.

Now, Scott and Ann have been married for 30 years, raised three kids, and it’s believed Scott earns $1 million per year hosting The Block, with an estimated net worth of around $11 million. Not bad for a guy who just wanted a cold drink at the local pub!

Is Scott Cam a builder?

Scott Cam is from the famous Sydney suburb of Bondi. He started his career by completing school and his carpentry apprenticeship at the age of 18.

To satisfy his adventurous spirit, he drove around Australia in an old four-wheel drive soon after. After gaining experience from different jobs during a five-year period, Scott returned to his building roots and decided to start his own company in 1990.

During one of his short visits back home, fate played a role when he met his future wife, Ann. Together, they live in Sydney with their three children: Charlie, and twins Sarah and Bill.

Inside his houses

When it comes to luxury living and making millions in the property market, the contestants on this year’s season of The Block could certainly learn a lot from long-time host Scott Cam. Although he is known for being a down-to-earth Aussie, the 60-year-old’s home is far from ordinary.

The large property spans three levels, with three bathrooms, four bedrooms, and five car spots. It also features a recording studio where Scott does his voice-over work for the reality show.

The Gold Logie winner purchased the family home for $4.6 million in 2012, not long after he started hosting The Block. Its value has since increased significantly to $11 million.

During the pandemic, Scott shared on Instagram that he used his time in isolation to make improvements to the property, including building his own “cave gym” in the backyard.

Vaucluse is also home to Hamish and Zoë Foster Blake’s $8.925 million mansion, which they bought in December 2020 after moving from Melbourne.

What other houses does Scott Cam own?

Scott Cam’s impressive real estate collection includes a $2 million property in Roseberry, a coastal house in Narrawallee, and a farm near Mudgee.

Earlier this year, the Gisborne property he renovated on last year’s season of The Block was listed for sale with an asking price between $4.1 million and $4.3 million.

“I think the house has amazing artwork and design, and it’s full of history, which I love. It’s going to make a family happy as it’s a wonderful family home,” Scotty told Nine.

The luxury four-bedroom home, which he named Camalot, has a 3D-printed concrete cabana, an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven, and a shed with a “man cave.”

The property has been shown in a few episodes of this year’s season when the winning contestants visited Scotty for dinner.

TV breakthrough and Block legacy

The key moment that changed Scott Cam’s path from a tradesman to a TV star happened when a determined producer named Stuart Clark approached him at the pub while Cam was having an after-work drink.

“This fella came up to me in the pub one arvo and says: ‘Do you want to do a screen test for a TV show we’re doing?’ Initially, I thought he was joking and said ‘No, I’m right thanks mate!'” Cam explained in a blog post on his website.

Clark was set on casting Cam for the show Backyard Blitz and kept pursuing him over several beers. His persistence paid off, and Scott’s TV career began in 2000 when he appeared on the show with Jamie Durie.

He went on to make a name for himself on shows like Renovation Rescue and Domestic Blitz before getting the role of hosting The Block in 2010. Since then, he has become a key part of the show, guiding and mentoring the competing couples.

Scott’s success on The Block earned him prestigious awards, including the Silver Logie for Most Popular Presenter and the Gold Logie for Most Popular Australian TV Personality in 2014.

Cam has also written two books on building and renovating: Home Maintenance for Knuckleheads (2003) and Out the Back (2004). In 2017, he released his third book, Scotty’s Top Aussie Sheds (2017), which showcases some of the country’s best backyard sheds.

Net Worth of Scott Cam

Scott Cam has become a well-known figure across Australia after hosting the popular reality TV show The Block since 2010.

Reports say that Cam earns over $1 million a year in this role, and as of 2025, his net worth is estimated to be around $11 million.

His down-to-earth image has made him popular with businesses all over the country, leading to endorsement deals with brands like Bisley Workwear, Mitre 10, and McDonald Jones Homes. He has also won the Silver Logie for Most Popular Presenter and the Gold Logie for Most Popular Australian TV Personality in 2014.
