In a move that has reignited the global “ARMY” fandom, BTS has officially revived their beloved web variety series after a three-year hiatus.
On April 7, 2026, the group premiered “Run BTS! 2.0”, a revamped and “quirky” evolution of the original show that ran from 2015 to 2023.
This return follows the group’s massive full-group comeback with their studio album ARIRANG in March 2026, signaling that while the members have grown as global icons and completed their military service, they remain committed to the unscripted, humorous chemistry that built their human connection with fans.
The revival was first teased on March 30, showing all seven members- RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook- brainstorming “crazy” ideas to refresh the show’s format.
During the teaser, Suga jokingly suggested “playing guitar for hours,” while others pitched experimental challenges.
The premiere on April 23, titled “BTS TRIP EP. 1,” proved that the group’s competitive spirit is as fierce as ever, drawing approximately 3 million views in its first 10 hours and surpassing 10 million views within 10 days of broadcasting.
Chaos in the Countryside: The ‘BTS TRIP’ Special
The opening episodes of Run BTS! 2.0 take a “travel-inspired” approach, featuring the members at a charming vacation home.
The debut was characterized by “delightful chaos,” including a hilarious room-picking sequence where Jungkook secured a large room for himself while the other six members had to negotiate more cramped quarters.
A standout moment from the premiere was a “zombie pillow fight” that left the living room in ruins and fans in stitches. Regarding his experience during the chaotic games, one member admitted,
“I saw myself struggling” to maintain composure amidst the group’s relentless joking.
The second episode, released on April 30, featured a highly disorganized game of jokgu (foot volleyball), a concept V had humorously suggested years prior.
The episode culminated in Suga and V being chosen to perform a “punishment” at the Bomunsa Pagoda.
This was a particularly moving moment for long-time fans, as it was the first time the duo returned to that specific location together since 2016.
Reflecting on the joy of filming as a full unit again, the members shared that “I gained more confidence” in the group’s enduring dynamic after seeing that their rapport remained unchanged despite their time apart.
A Global Platform Strategy for a New Era
The production of Run BTS! 2.0 reflects a strategic shift in how the group distributes content.
While the series originated on V Live and moved to Weverse in 2020, the 2.0 version is being released simultaneously on the BANGTANTV YouTube channel and Weverse.
This move to a more accessible global platform is intended to reach a broader audience as the group embarks on their 2026-2027 World Tour.
The series is currently being released on a weekly basis, with new episodes typically airing on Tuesdays or as part of special multi-part blocks.
The return of the show is more than just entertainment; it is a vital part of the group’s “homecoming” narrative.
Following the release of ARIRANG, which fused Korean cultural heritage with modern hip-hop, Run BTS! 2.0 serves as the “pure flow” of their daily lives and personal relationships.
Upcoming episodes are teased to include beach volleyball, school-themed physical challenges, and even more travel-based missions.
As the group performs to hundreds of thousands of people in cities like Mexico City and Seoul, Run BTS! 2.0 remains the “complimentary therapy” that keeps both the members and their fans grounded in laughter.
Stay tuned to BANGTANTV every week to see which member will be the next to face a “hilariously embarrassing” punishment.
