Rockstar Games has yet to officially reveal GTA 6 Online, but documents from an ongoing employment tribunal have provided a glimpse at how closely the developer is protecting information surrounding the game’s potential multiplayer component. According to the documents, discussions about an online mode capable of supporting up to 32 players were considered highly confidential.
The information emerged from materials submitted during legal proceedings involving former Rockstar employees. GTA community figure Ben, known online as videotech, highlighted the details and drew attention to the extensive security measures Rockstar uses to protect confidential projects.
GTA 6 Online Information Was Kept Highly Confidential
The tribunal documents reportedly reference employees discussing confidential project details on a private Discord server, including an “online format for 32 players.” However, the material does not confirm that GTA 6 Online will ultimately feature 32-player sessions.
Instead, the reference establishes that such a multiplayer format was discussed during development and that the information was considered confidential at the time. Rockstar has not announced the player count, features or launch plans for a GTA 6 multiplayer mode.
Rockstar’s security practices are particularly strict because of the numerous leaks that have affected GTA 6 throughout its development. The company requires visitors to sign NDAs, prohibits workplace photography and restricts personal devices from connecting to its systems.
The documents also reveal the unusual lengths Rockstar has taken to prevent physical surveillance. The developer reportedly installed privacy protection on its office buildings after drones were used to look through windows and film employees working on confidential projects.
Rockstar has also maintained a dedicated five-person investigative team focused on identifying potential leaks and security threats. These measures follow major breaches, including the 2022 theft and publication of unfinished GTA 6 footage.
For now, GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive have not announced a release window for the PC version, while GTA 6 Online remains officially unannounced.
