Virtual K-pop group PLAVE has achieved a major career milestone with its latest mini-album, HYPERDRIVE, entering the top 40 of the Billboard 200 for the first time.

The release debuted at No. 31 on the chart, marking the group’s highest ranking yet on the US albums chart and underscoring its growing international popularity.

According to Billboard’s latest chart announcement on October 27, 2026, HYPERDRIVE also topped two other major album charts, securing No. 1 positions on both the Top Album Sales chart and the World Albums chart.

These achievements give PLAVE its first-ever chart-topping positions on either list.

The latest results represent a significant step forward for the five-member virtual group, which previously entered the Billboard 200 for the first time earlier this year.

With its new release, PLAVE has moved well beyond that initial milestone, demonstrating increased demand for its music in the United States.

The album’s performance also reflects the group’s ability to build momentum across different markets while continuing to develop its musical identity.

‘HYPERDRIVE’ Scores Three Billboard Chart Achievements

Released digitally on October 12 and physically on October 13, HYPERDRIVE is PLAVE’s fifth mini-album.

Its No. 31 debut on the Billboard 200 marks a substantial improvement over the group’s previous best, achieved with Caligo Pt. 2, which entered the chart at No. 145 in April 2026.

The new ranking places PLAVE among the K-pop acts making a strong impression on the US album market.

Its success on the Top Album Sales chart is particularly notable, as the ranking measures album sales in the United States.

The group also reached No. 1 on the World Albums chart, marking another first in its Billboard history.

PLAVE returned to Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart at No. 1, achieving a new personal best.

The chart tracks developing artists based on their performance across Billboard’s various rankings.

The album’s individual songs also made an impact on Billboard’s global charts. “Star Trace,” the title track, ranked No. 32 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart and No. 84 on the Global 200.

Other tracks from the album entered the rankings as well, demonstrating interest in the project beyond its lead single.

“GGUN” placed at No. 55 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart and No. 128 on the Global 200.

“Sweet Rain” ranked No. 57 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart and No. 130 on the Global 200, while “The Answer Is Yes” reached No. 66 and No. 170 on the respective charts. “Rewind” also appeared on the Global Excl. U.S. chart at No. 105.

PLAVE additionally returned to Billboard’s Artist 100 at No. 25, establishing another new peak for the group.

The result reflects its overall performance across Billboard’s charts rather than the sales of a single album or song.

PLAVE Continues Expanding Its Global Presence

PLAVE consists of five members: Yejun, Noah, Bamby, Eunho and Hamin.

The group debuted in March 2023 and stands out in the K-pop industry through its use of animated virtual avatars, whose movements and expressions are brought to life through motion-capture technology.

Although the members appear as animated characters, the project combines live performance techniques with conventional songwriting, music production and choreography.

This approach has helped PLAVE develop a distinctive identity within the competitive K-pop landscape.

The group’s earlier release, Caligo Pt. 2, marked its first appearance on the Billboard 200, debuting at No. 145 in April.

The success of HYPERDRIVE now represents a considerable improvement, with the album climbing to No. 31.

The latest release has also performed strongly in South Korea.

According to Hanteo Chart figures reported by Korean media, HYPERDRIVE sold more than 1.32 million copies during its first week, establishing a new first-week sales record for PLAVE.

Musically, the album explores a range of styles, with “Star Trace” marking the group’s move into EDM-based dance-pop.

The project also incorporates elements of rock, R&B and bossa nova, allowing the members to explore sounds beyond their previous releases.

PLAVE is currently continuing its first world tour, DASH: QUANTUM LEAP, with upcoming performances planned for international audiences.

The group’s expanding schedule gives fans outside South Korea more opportunities to experience its music and performances.

With HYPERDRIVE reaching No. 31 on the Billboard 200 and topping two additional album charts, PLAVE has achieved one of the most significant milestones of its career so far.

The results establish a new benchmark for the group as it continues building its international audience and exploring new musical directions.
