On March 25, 2026, OUI Entertainment released a comprehensive official statement detailing a significant shift in the operational direction for the boy group WEi.
After years of consistent group promotions since their 2020 debut, the agency announced that the members will now prioritize personal growth and individual endeavors for the foreseeable future.
This transition marks a new chapter for the six-member group, aimed at allowing each individual to explore their unique talents across various sectors of the entertainment industry while maintaining their collective identity as WEi.
Strategic Shift Toward Personal Branding and Unit Projects
The core of OUI Entertainment’s announcement centers on the “various unit activities” and individual challenges the members will undertake.
The agency explained that the members have reached a point in their careers where they have built sufficient “experience and abilities” to branch out into their respective fields of interest. In their official communication, the agency stated:
“Based on the experience and abilities they have built up until now through their group activities, the WEi members plan to embark on new challenges through various unit activities and also within their respective fields.
Therefore, for the time being, the members will focus a bit more on their individual activities and take some time to expand their personal domains.”
This strategic move is designed to allow the idols to pursue acting, solo music releases, variety show appearances, and other specialized projects.

By focusing on “expanding their personal domains,” the members can strengthen their individual brands, which the agency believes will ultimately benefit the group as a whole when they reunite for future collective projects.
The agency also hinted that fans (RUi) can look forward to smaller sub-units within the group, offering new musical colors and performance dynamics that differ from their traditional six-member lineup.
Long-Term Commitment to the Group Identity and Fan Support
Despite the focus on individual schedules, OUI Entertainment was careful to emphasize that this is not a permanent dissolution of the group.
The statement reassured fans that the bond between the members remains strong and that they are united under the WEi name. The agency clarified:
“WEi will continue to maintain their relationship and direction as a team in the future, and they also plan to continue their group activities in various forms when good opportunities and timing arise.
The members are also rooting for one another as they remain united during the name of WEi, and we, too, plan to actively support both the WEi members’ individual activities and their future group activities.”
The group’s current situation is also influenced by the long-term absence of member Kim Jun Seo.
Last year, Jun Seo went on a hiatus to participate in the Mnet survival program “BOYS II PLANET,” where he successfully secured a spot in the project group ALPHA DRIVE ONE.
As a result, he is contractually unable to participate in WEi’s group activities for the next five years.
This hiatus likely played a role in the decision to pivot toward individual and unit-based activities for the remaining members.
OUI Entertainment concluded their message by expressing gratitude to the fandom:
“We first would like to sincerely thank all the RUi who always give WEi their unsparing love and support.
We will work hard so that they can greet RUi after each growing within their respective places.
We ask that you continue to give the WEi members’ activities your warm support and interest in the future as well. Thank you.”
This new era for WEi represents a balance between individual ambition and group loyalty.
As the members begin to embark on their solo journeys, the agency’s support and the fans’ continued interest will be pivotal in ensuring that the WEi brand remains a relevant and influential force in the K-pop industry.
Whether through a solo acting role, a new sub-unit single, or a variety show appearance, the members are poised to demonstrate the growth they have achieved since their debut.
