An old movie by Hayao Miyazaki is coming back to cinemas. It’s called Panda Go Panda! Rainy Day Circus. Fans are excited because it was made before Studio Ghibli started.

Released in 1973, Panda Go Panda! received a warm reception globally, showcasing Miyazaki’s storytelling prowess even before Ghibli’s establishment.

Organized by Dreampass, a renowned Japanese website, the event is set for May 25, 2024, at Akihabara UDX in Japan. Fans can look forward not only to the screening but also to engaging talks by Yu Honda, a Studio Ghibli animator, and Seiji Kano, a film researcher, who will look at Miyazaki’s early works.

This screening will also feature a new character, Tora-chan, a little tiger, joining Mimiko and the Panda family, adding a fresh twist to the original story.

The film, light-hearted and wholesome, captures the core of slice-of-life with its charming characters. Fans of Ghibli movies can now even request special screenings of other classic films, following the example set by the Panda Go Panda! Sequel event.

This initiative not only celebrates Miyazaki’s legacy but also brings joy to longtime fans who cherish his timeless creations.
