She was detained for failing to comply with Hawaii’s 14-day quarantine law. Salamanca attempted to explain her behavior in an Instagram video released a day before her arrest, stating that a local police officer assured her that if she tested negative for COVID-19, she could go out.

She said that she was now “officially Retokada,”- which refers to a woman who has undergone plastic surgery. However, some detractors were eager to see an immediate improvement in her appearance. Mika stressed that the rhinoplasty treatment takes months to recover completely and that releasing images comparing her present appearance to her old one would be inappropriate.
