MediaOCD has announced a new sales agreement with the Independent Manga Alliance to bring print manga from Manga Mavericks Books and Mahjong Pros to its online store. The deal expands MediaOCD’s growing physical manga selection while giving readers another way to discover licensed English-language works from independent publishers.
The newly available catalog covers a range of manga rather than focusing on one specific genre. Manga Mavericks Books has built its publishing lineup around Japanese creators and independent manga, while Mahjong Pros has developed a catalog connected to mahjong and other specialized works. Several Manga Mavericks Books titles are already listed through MediaOCD, including ALTERNATIVE[SELF LINER NOTE], Great Metal God, FISHGOD, Horon of the Closed Country, The Pipe Machine, and Vegetable Sandwich.
For readers interested in physical manga, the agreement makes these titles available through a retailer better known for its anime and physical-media catalog.
MEDIAOCD ADDS INDEPENDENT MANGA TO ITS STORE
Justin Sevakis, founder of MediaOCD, welcomed the addition of the two publishers, saying,
“Both of these publishers share our independent spirit.”
He added that their catalogs complement the anime already offered through the MediaOCD store.
Manga Mavericks Books CEO Varun Gupta said the company was excited to work with MediaOCD as a retail partner. He highlighted the publisher’s range of manga from Japan’s independent and traditional publishing scenes, including alternative, classical, shojo/josei, and LGBTQ+ stories.
Manga Mavericks Books describes itself as an independent U.S.-based publisher focused on highlighting Japanese manga creators. Its current catalog includes both print and digital releases.
Mahjong Pros is also using the partnership to put its manga catalog in front of a wider audience. Harrison Doan, the company’s Head of Partnerships, explained that the goal is to make its manga easier for readers to discover.
“We just want more people to be able to find mahjong and read the manga we’re putting out,”
Doan said, adding that the company was excited to have its titles featured in MediaOCD’s store.
Mahjong Pros has continued expanding its publishing lineup, including licensed manga such as Snap Call Kirinji, which is scheduled for English digital and print publication in January 2027.
Readers can browse the current selection through MediaOCD’s online store.
