Satoru Gojo’s confidence is one of the defining traits of Jujutsu Kaisen, and one of his most recognizable lines has now prompted an unusual confession from the actor behind him. Yuichi Nakamura, Gojo’s Japanese voice actor, admitted that he wishes he had delivered the character’s famous “I’m the strongest” line in a cooler way.
Nakamura made the comment during Jujutsu Fest 2026 – 5th Anniversary, which took place at K Arena Yokohama on August 29 and 30. The event brought together several members of the anime’s voice cast for live performances and discussions about their experiences working on the series.
Yuichi Nakamura Wishes He Had Given Gojo’s Famous Line More Impact
According to Mantan Web, Nakamura’s comments came during the Jujutsu Academy Awards, a fan-voted feature created for the fifth-anniversary celebration. Gojo’s famous statement, “Don’t worry; I’m the strongest,” won the first-place prize in the “Unquestionably True” category, making Nakamura part of the ceremony as the voice behind the character.
Rather than simply accepting the recognition, Nakamura looked back at his original performance and revealed that his feelings about the line have changed over time.
“At first I didn’t pay much attention to it, but it gradually became synonymous with Gojo, so I should have said it in a cooler way,”
he said, laughing.
The comment is particularly interesting because the line has become closely associated with Gojo’s identity as the strongest jujutsu sorcerer. His overwhelming confidence is central to his character, and the quote captures the almost effortless certainty he displays even when facing overwhelming threats.
Gojo’s status within the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom also makes Nakamura’s regret notable. The character remains one of the franchise’s most recognizable figures, with Nakamura’s performance helping establish the distinctive combination of Gojo’s humor, arrogance and overwhelming confidence.
The Jujutsu Academy Awards also recognized other memorable moments from the series. Yuta Okkotsu’s line, “What? It’s just pure love,” from Jujutsu Kaisen 0 won the “World’s Purest Love” category, with voice actor Megumi Ogata offering her own interpretation of the character’s feelings toward Rika.
The latest event was part of the anime’s fifth-anniversary celebrations and featured Nakamura alongside Junya Enoki, Megumi Ogata, Takahiro Sakurai and other cast members. The official Jujutsu Kaisen website confirms that Jujutsu Fest 2026 was held across two days and included live voice performances, music and a look back at the anime’s history.
