The TV anime Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia has revealed the preview details and new cast members for Episode 6, titled “The Mergen People.” The upcoming episode will introduce important figures from Töregene’s past while expanding the historical drama’s story set during the 13th-century Mongol Empire.
The Jaadugar Committee announced that popular voice actors Akira Ishida, Inori Minase, and Shoya Chiba will join the anime’s cast starting with Episode 6. The new characters include the Merkit tribe chief Dayir, his daughter Khulan, and the master archer Kultukan.
Based on Tomato Soup’s award-winning manga A Witch’s Life in Mongol, the anime follows Sitara, a young woman who uses knowledge and intelligence as her weapon while seeking revenge against the empire that destroyed her life. The series is produced by Science SARU, the studio behind DAN DA DAN, The Heike Story, and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!.
Episode 6 Explores Töregene’s Past With the Merkit Tribe
Episode 6, “The Mergen People,” focuses on Töregene opening up to Sitara about her painful history. The episode reveals that 25 years earlier, Töregene married the much older Merkit tribe leader Dayir and developed a connection with the tribe, including Dayir’s daughter Khulan.
However, their peaceful life ended when the Mongol forces led by Genghis Khan attacked the Merkit tribe. Dayir was forced to make a difficult decision during the conflict, creating the tragedy that shaped Töregene’s hatred toward the Mongol Empire.
The new episode adds more depth to the relationship between Sitara and Töregene, two women united by their resentment toward the empire. Their alliance becomes a central part of the series as they attempt to challenge one of history’s most powerful civilizations.
Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia is adapted from Tomato Soup’s manga, which has received major recognition in Japan. The original work ranked first in Takarajimasha’s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023 Women’s Category and was selected for the Grand Prize in the Comic Division at the 55th Japan Cartoonists Association Awards.
The anime features Naoko Yamada (A Silent Voice, K-On!) as executive director, Abel Gongora as director, and Kenichi Yoshida handling character design and animation supervision. The series also features music by Koshiro Hino, with opening theme “Stella” performed by SEKAI NO OWARI and ending theme “STAR” performed by QUEEN BEE.
