Griffin Entertainment, the management agency representing SHINee member and solo artist Onew, has issued a formal statement addressing ongoing media reports regarding his alleged connection to an unlicensed medical practitioner known publicly as “Injection Auntie.”

On August 12, 2026, the agency released an official position paper to provide factual clarity regarding his involvement, confirming that Onew previously cooperated with law enforcement authorities during a formal police inquiry conducted in May.

The statement follows news reports indicating that the Seoul Gangnam Police Station had summoned several high-profile public figures for questioning in connection to unauthorized medical practices, including intravenous (IV) drip administrations and prescription distribution carried out outside licensed medical facilities.

The controversy centers around an individual, identified by authorities as Lee, who is currently under active police investigation for allegedly conducting unlicensed medical procedures- such as administering IV drips and handling pharmaceuticals- in private locations including officetels and vehicles.

As investigators expanded their probe into whether clients were aware of the practitioner’s lack of a South Korean medical license, Onew was brought in for questioning as a witness.

Griffin Entertainment responded swiftly to clarify that Onew’s interactions with the individual occurred under the complete understanding that he was receiving routine procedures from a qualified healthcare practitioner at a legitimate facility.

Official Statement and Direct Quotes from Griffin Entertainment

To counter growing online speculation and protect the artist’s standing, Griffin Entertainment published an official public statement detailing the background of Onew’s visit to the facility and his interaction with the authorities.

Addressing fans and news outlets directly, the agency wrote:

“Hello. This is Griffin Entertainment.

We are providing an official position regarding the articles reported today concerning our artist, Onew.

As stated in the position paper released last December, Onew previously visited a hospital through an introduction from an acquaintance to receive treatment for skin care purposes.

At that time, Onew perceived the individual as a doctor or a medical professional affiliated with the hospital, and there were no circumstances to doubt the legality of the medical license or procedures.
