The upcoming anime Sparks of Tomorrow is already building momentum ahead of its premiere, and its music lineup is now adding even more anticipation. Produced by Kyoto Animation, the series will feature original theme songs by rising vocalist Luna Goami and indie-pop artist Ginger Root. Both tracks are set for global digital release in July 2026, closely aligning with the anime’s debut window.
The opening theme “Eureka Evrika” by Luna Goami will be released on July 6, followed by the ending theme “Soarin’” by Ginger Root on July 13. Meanwhile, Sparks of Tomorrow premieres on July 5, airing in Japan and streaming worldwide exclusively on Netflix. This tight rollout ensures viewers can immediately connect with the anime’s music as part of its storytelling experience.
Sparks of Tomorrow Sets the Stage With a Unique Story
Set in an alternate-history version of early 20th-century Kyoto, Sparks of Tomorrow presents a world where steam power dominates technological progress. The narrative follows a boy fascinated by the possibilities of electricity and a young girl carrying the memory of her late mother. Their chance meeting drives a story rooted in emotion, discovery, and the clash between tradition and innovation.
This thematic blend of personal growth and scientific curiosity is reflected heavily in the anime’s music. Both the opening and ending tracks are crafted to complement the tone of the series, enhancing its narrative impact rather than simply accompanying it.
Luna Goami’s “Eureka Evrika” Captures Energy and Emotion
The opening theme “Eureka Evrika” is composed by Hitomi Koto, who also handles the anime’s soundtrack, while Luna Goami wrote the lyrics herself. The track combines driving percussion with soaring strings, mirroring the adventurous and high-energy tone of the story.
Goami described the opportunity as deeply meaningful, especially given her admiration for Kyoto Animation. She shared that she immersed herself in the script and creative vision, drawing inspiration from the themes of belief and doubt that define the narrative. While searching for the right words, she found inspiration in Kyoto itself, eventually landing on the phrase “Eureka Evrika” as a symbolic expression of discovery and sudden clarity.
She also revealed that she was pregnant during the production process, which added an emotional layer to the song’s themes of life and rebirth. That personal connection is expected to resonate strongly in the final track.
Ginger Root’s “Soarin’” Brings a Reflective Ending Note
For the ending theme, Ginger Root—helmed by Cameron Lew—takes full creative control with “Soarin’,” handling the writing, composition, and arrangement. The track opens with a melancholic tone reminiscent of an approaching storm before shifting into a rhythmic progression that carries a sense of forward motion.
Lew described the project as a dream opportunity, especially as a longtime anime fan. He explained that “Soarin’” is inspired by the idea of pushing beyond human limits, capturing the feeling that anything is possible when chasing one’s dreams. This message aligns closely with the anime’s central themes, making the ending song a natural extension of the story.
