Many WWE superstars have climbed the ladder to success, some with more advantages than others. One surprising path to the top involves working security! Big names like LA Knight and Sheamus all started out guarding the very events they’d later headline.
Former Wrestler Opens Up
Former WWE wrestler Mace (now known as Mason Madden) has a similar story. Before becoming a well-known superstar, he spent a short time as a WWE security guard. However, unlike some, Mace already had experience wrestling on the independent circuit before joining WWE security.
In a recent interview, Mace revealed his feelings about working security while training to become a wrestler. He admitted it wasn’t ideal and felt like a distraction from his ultimate goal.
“They had us work security,” Mace said. “It wasn’t like I wasn’t doing anything before WWE. So it was kind of a distraction. Fans would recognize me and ask when I’d be in the ring, and I wouldn’t even know!”
Thankfully, things have changed since then. Mace acknowledges that WWE doesn’t use security guards as frequently anymore.
While working security wasn’t his favorite part of the journey, Mace’s time in WWE was still exciting and entertaining for fans.
