Eddie Murphy’s Iconic Nutty Professor Movies Will Soon Be Gone from Netflix

Two classic Eddie Murphy films, featuring one of his most famous roles, will soon be off Netflix. Both The Nutty Professor movies will be removed from the platform on August 31.

After that date, they won’t be available for streaming. The first movie is now available on Starz. However, once The Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps leaves Netflix, it will only be available for rent on Prime Video.

The first Nutty Professor movie, which stars Eddie Murphy along with Jada Pinkett Smith and Dave Chappelle, has a 65% rating from critics and a 40% rating from general audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The sequel, The Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps, has lower ratings, with 27% from critics and 33% from audiences.

The Nutty Professor, a remake of the 1963 film starring Jerry Lewis, was written by David Sheffield, Barry W. Blaustein, Tom Shadyac, and Steve Oedekerk.

Tom Shadyac directed the film, known for his work on Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty, where Jim Carrey and Steve Carell play twisted versions of God. Shadyac also directed Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. The sequel was directed by Peter Segal, who also directed My Spy: The Eternal City, Tommy Boy, The Longest Yard, and Get Smart.
