Project Hail Mary

Project Hail Mary is a 2026 science-fiction adventure based on Andy Weir’s bestselling novel. The film follows Ryland Grace, a former scientist and schoolteacher who wakes up alone aboard a spacecraft millions of miles from Earth with no memory of how he got there. As his memories return, Grace discovers that he has been sent on a desperate mission to investigate a mysterious substance causing the Sun to lose energy and threatening humanity’s survival. Ryan Gosling leads the film as Grace, with Sandra Hüller playing scientist Eva Stratt and James Ortiz providing the voice and performance for Rocky, an alien who becomes Grace’s unexpected companion. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and written by Drew Goddard, the movie combines hard science-fiction concepts with humor, survival, friendship and a large-scale space adventure.
