Don’t Say Good Luck

Don’t Say Good Luck is a 2026 coming-of-age comedy-drama from director Julia Hart, starring Sunny Sandler as Sophie Birenbaum, a high school theater student whose biggest opportunity arrives during a difficult period for her family. After landing the lead role in her school musical, Sophie must balance the pressures of performing, friendships and teenage relationships while dealing with her mother’s serious illness. Written by Laura Hankin, Julia Hart and Jordan Horowitz, the Netflix film combines musical theater, family drama and teenage coming-of-age themes. The story is partly inspired by Hankin’s own experiences growing up and performing in theater while her mother was ill.
