Backrooms (2026)

Backrooms is a 2026 psychological horror and science-fiction thriller directed by Kane Parsons, expanding the filmmaker’s popular internet-born Backrooms universe into a feature film. The story begins when a strange doorway appears beneath a furniture showroom, opening access to a seemingly endless dimension of empty rooms, corridors and unsettling spaces that exist beyond ordinary reality. Chiwetel Ejiofor stars as Clark, with Renate Reinsve as Mary and Mark Duplass as Phil, as the characters become increasingly trapped in a world where isolation and distorted reality are as dangerous as the supernatural threats surrounding them. Written by Parsons and Will Soodik, the movie uses the eerie concept of the original Backrooms creepypasta while building a more character-driven psychological story around memory, trauma and imprisonment. The film was produced by A24, 21 Laps Entertainment, Atomic Monster and Chernin Entertainment.
