Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns is a modern remake of the 1986 strategy classic Defender of the Crown, developed by Black Tower Basement and published by Nordcurrent Labs. Set in medieval England during the struggle for the throne following King Richard the Lionheart’s absence, the game combines turn-based strategy, kingdom management, castle sieges, jousting, and real-time battles. This remastered edition introduces enhanced visuals, quality-of-life improvements, and three distinct gameplay modes, including a faithful recreation of the Amiga original and a modernized experience for contemporary platforms. The game launches on August 13, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG.
